If the condition is OK you will have a good tractor. I have the grey version, a D1450FD. I bought it in 96 and have done the following: New seat, air filter canister (so I could buy filters at NAPA) release bearing and pilot bearing, new race for the input shaft on front differential. These parts have cost approximatley $300 over a ten year period. I use it as a dedicated mowing tractor. I also have a S-470 Satoh Buck which has a slightly larger engine as the Beaver III but otherwise is identical. It's been in the family since new, back in the late 70s. Still running strong. Condition is the key. The Buck looks pretty ragged and has been rolled three different times. If I was buying one I would pass on my Buck based on the way it looks but it is still pretty fine mechanically.
