buy used JD 4200

I'm looking to buy a used JD 4200 4X4 Hyrro with 410 hrs. It was used by a local school to mow grass they trade every year. The dealer is asking $14,900, it has a 60" mid mow deck and for that price the dealer will put on a new 420 loader. I can buy a new Cub Cadet that is very similar for about the same price. I have also looked at the Kubota 7500HST equiped similar but for less money. This will be my first tractor. I need some advise. Is the JD a good deal? Are Cub Cadet's good or am I going to have a hard time getting rid of it. Kubota ???

Very generally, if you can get a brand new Kubota B7500HSD
that's similar to the used JD for less money, then I would go
with the new Kubota. All things being equal, why pay more
for something used when you can get it brand new for less?

I recently sold a Kubota B7100 that I bought used about five years ago. I NEVER had any problems with it. The only reason I sold it, was that it was too small. I believe that Kubota makes a great tractor. I also feel JD is a great machine, and recently purchased a JD4300. I think the key question for you is, what size tractor do you need? I looked at the Kubota 7500, Kubota 2410, JD 4200 and 4300 tractors. I liked them all... I chose the JD based upon size, weight, PTO HP, and lifting capacity. Netting it out. I think the 4200 would give you more power and versatility than the smaller Kubota (be sure to compare horsepower, lift capacities, weight, etc.). It really is a bigger tractor. The price you mentioned seems pretty good also
