Note this closes tomorrow, 3/27. But if their reserve is anywhere near their buy-it-now they won't sell.

The auction is for five Yanmars that look to me like the rejects from a closed VN importer, unsalable due to various defects and parts unavailable. One is on-site near Ontario Airport (50 miles east of Los Angeles) and the others are claimed to be parked 30 miles south of there.

As I said, buyer beware! But there might be some way to work out something reasonable if they are owned by Repo Man or something.

Copart

And thanks to twoforty (elsewhere) who bought this to my attention.

Advertised as a 1985? One has a 17 sticker on it where the model number usually is?

I expect everything about that deal is going to be a little random.

Did you notice one loader is held off the ground by a 2x4? Looks like they couldn't get parts for a VN loader either. :D

There was a reseller of "reconditioned" tractors advertising in Menifee (Where the other 4 tractors are located) on craigslist. The photos posted, as I recall, looked much like what is shown here: A steel skinned building over wood framework. They advertised as having parts available as well; whether that means they would order them for you from some other place, or if they had some parts in stock. $38000 for loader equipped 1401, 1610, 1802, and FX 16 tractors, all loader equipped, 4 wheel drive and with 2 backhoes is expensive, but actually seems discounted from where they would be advertised individually, which is fairly unusual for auction prices, in my experience. As an example, there is a 1300D with loader that has been repainted a rosy red, and the engine and transmission black, with only a little overspray on the tires, listed in the same general area for $6800. TRACTOR 1300D 4WD

Having said that, the image of the loader held up by a piece of lumber, and another tractor without a bucket at all, with all the known issues with the VN loaders and troubles with Frankentractors, is terrifying.

I find it interesting that the emblems have been removed, and it isn't advertised as a package of Yanmar tractors. I wonder what the timing of these units' importation was: Before or after the Supreme Court decision in Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons.

Copart is a salvage company. Around here they auction auto total loos vehicles. My guess is they got the tractor as a forclosure or insurance settlement. Not a dealer.
