I am looking to buy a B6100 but it seems to have a transmission problem. It is stuck in 1st gear. Actually, I believe it will shift between 1st and reverse, just not the higher gears. The owner claims it was working fine until he parked it (claims for 3 months.....), now it is stuck. It will shift in and out of 4 wheel drive as well as high/low.

Any thoughts on what might be happening here? I will go see it Sunday morning, is there anything I can look at without taking it apart? Is there anything else besides the transmission that I should be looking at before purchasing the tractor?

The owner seems open to giving the background info about the tractor so I should be able to get a good idea of what I'm getting into before throwing down the cash!

It could be as simple as a shift fork being bent or a roll pin being out of place.

I was hoping that there was a common 'simple' problem like that, but I don't know the transmission well enough to be sure. Thanks.

Could be the clutch rusted if it wasn't used for a while. On my 2620 there was a wood block that came with it to keep the clutch from being engaged if it were stored for any
Long time.
