Need some advice.
Priced out a Koyker because I was told they're the best, dont really know personally if thats true so input would be appreciated. The cost for a loader and valve kit with a 60" bucket is $3800+ $700 ish shipping.
The price for the same bucket size with a skid steer loader is an extra $1000.
If you live on a farm, how handy it is to go with the skid steer loader set up? Im not sure what all I'd regret by getting the regular bucket, any ideas?
By the way, the lead time is 4 to 5 weeks as they'd have to build it once ordered.
The closest dealer is 200 miles away hence the shipping.
What are your guys' opinions on the value per dollar?

I think that was a special pricing, Woods quoted me over $7000 for the same loader and $6800 for a smaller version....... I think they're chiseling them out of billet steel, titanium, haha something.

What are your uses for the tractor? For me I would get the Skid Steer Quick Attach SSQA. I have a small horse farm and to be able to quickly change from bucket to hay spear is worth every penny. I rarely put the bucket on. They spear or pallet forks are always on. I think $1,000 extra is a tad steep. Maybe $500 or so. But $700 to deliver it 200 miles is a rip off or is that delivery to the dealer from factory? And don’t forget to put a chain hook on the bucket.

If you are going to spend that kind of money do it one time and get the SSQA. I traded a perfectly good 1720 last year for a WM 50 so I could get the SSQA FEL.

Back about 8 years ago my dealer stocked some Stoll loaders. I had them put one on my 1720 and it worked great. It was not SSQA. They were stocking those units at a price point of around $3100. Lift capacity was around 1000#. I really enjoyed that tractor and the FEL certainly was worth the added expense but it did not have SSQA.

Make sure that the Koyker has brackets specifically made for your unit. Sometimes aftermarket loader manufacturers make brackets that are universal and fit several models of tractors. On my Stoll the brackets were made for the TC 30 New Holland which was the replacement for the 1720. 4 attachment points on both the left and right side. Only 3 would work on one side. I kept a check on the bolts for loosening but it was not an issue in 6 years of service.

I would order it with the skid steer set up, I have the fast attach style on my Koyker and wish it had been equipped with the skid steer style.

Koykers website lists the kits for individual model tractors -so should be good on the special mounting brackets

I am a Big Believer in FEL's that have supports running to the rear axle, if you are going to really work the loader.
Some of Koykers FEL kits have this feature, it may also be tractor model dependent whether this extra bracing is feasible.

I don't know much about the Koyker brand, but as far as the quick attach or not... boils down to what you need and want to use it for. If you think you'll ever need or want, let's say pallet forks or a grapple bucket, then getting the quick attach is practically a must have, imo. But money is always a factor and if you anticipate only ever needing pallet forks and only occasionally, then you might consider some clamp on pallet forks and go with the cheaper bucket (minus the quick attach). I always try to think 'down the road' and look at getting the most bang for my buck.

Also, just an FYI, Rural King sells TYM tractors now and the loader they advertise is $3200, it is also a quick attach. Not sure if it would mount to your T400, but the one I have is basically a T554 and it's a very nice, HD 6' bucket.

So final update on the Koyker loader. The boss came back from vacation and the price went from the original $3800 to a sweltering $5800 with a discount.
On one hand Im glad I waited until the boss got back because I dont want anyone to get into trouble but on the other hand it was a waste of my time. Time as in the last bit of good weather for the year time.
Im now back to square one..... going to look into all these great ideas you guys posted, and some old quotes from back before I decided to run with the Koyker.
