2000 Kubota M4900
I am trying to decide which tractor to buy for my 24 acres. I am leaning toward either the JD 5105 or the Kubota 4900. I have always wanted that John Deere green, but I don't know if it is really the best tractor. I have considered other options, such as Zetor or Mahindra. The price of these looks attractive but I am afraid of poor servicability. What brand do you suggest and why?

I know of one Mahindra dealer in my area, and the Zetor is "supposedly" gaining in popularity, but I'm like you. I'd be a little afraid of them. Of course, once again, your question is like asking whether to buy a Dodge, Ford, or Chevy pickup; a lot depends on price and personal preference. My personal preference is Kubota, but I'd suggest you look at Kubota, John Deere, and New Holland and see which one suits you best. Good luck.

Pick a good brand name also dealership you feel comfortable with, and
good service is always must!
One good brand name is as good as another. I purchase a Kubota do to the great dealership and cost also 15 miles from my home.
Take your time and have fun looking at all of the different modles and attachments.)

The Kubota M4900 is a better buy all around than the JD5105 which was made to compete with Massey and the third world tractors. You will be hard pressed to find anything better on the JD except like I did when I looked was that I just wanted a Green or Blue Tractor. Wound up buying the Kubota M6800SD which is 4WD ALL sync with LA1002 loader. The shuttle on the dash is really a nice feature. It really is a fine tractor. The JD shows a little heavier on the spec sheets, but my tractor with loader, ballast in tires, and a tiller on the back is about 8500#.

Everything about it is just done right. The PTO powers on through a clutch with the flip of a 4 inch lever beside the seat. Keep looking to find something that I do not like, but haven't found it yet. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well, I have yet to hear any bad reviews on Kubota. I am headed out to my Kubota dealer now to make a deal. Maybe by the end of the day I will be a proud new owner.
