Oh I think you'll be happy with that, gunpaq, very happy in fact. Probably as happy as I am /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. My new
L4300 w/LA682 was delivered on 12/9 and I like it alot. I'm still getting used to it and haven't really challenged it with anything, but am still impressed with the ease with which it does things. That little 4-banger is the smoothest running diesel I've ever operated. Starts great too.
For sure, get the rears loaded. My greatest concern was how light this tractor is compared to the Ag tractors I'm familiar with. Getting the rears loaded makes a big difference.
Might also want to consider getting a couple of rear remotes for the hydraulics (think it was L8408 and L8410 for the valves & hose kit I got). That'll position you to make the jump to 'Top and Tilt' hydraulic links for your 3-pt. hitch; something I hope to try next spring. I wasn't smart enough to ask for remotes with float capability. That would be better if you can get them.
I got the 66" bucket on the LA682 and had it fitted with the Weslor Brush Claw. Had a pile of brush about 5 ft. high next to the house that I'd accumulated in anticipation of the new rig. Wanted to see if I could pick brush off it and move it to a burn pile about 100 yds. away. First 4 or 5 tries I only got a limb or two when I closed the Claw. I'd put the limb back and try again. On the last try, I got the whole danged pile /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif! Then, seemingly without effort (1200 RPM), transferred the whole mess to the top of the burn pile without losing a limb. There's some technique involved, but it impressed me.
I've only got a few 'I wishes' with this tractor:
-I wish it was as easy to board from the right side as it is from the left.
-I wish it was geared a little lower in reverse...but that may just be me.
-I wish I'd asked them to put a work light on the rear.
Ya done good gunpaq.
