buying a new trailer

hey everyone,
im looking for a new trailer for my nh tc21d loader/hoe
i was looking at 16ft trailers, when i really got thinking about it, wouldnt a 16ft trailer be to small, once i installed a 5ft bush hog? what do you all think? thanks.

I would at the least go with a 18'. I had a 18' 7k trailer that I sold and went up to a 22' 10k. JC

I would go 18'. The cost of 2 feet longer is minimal in the price of a trailer and makes it easier to balance longer loads.

I would also think about how much turn around space you have and go with the size you need to haul the tractor. 16ft is big enough to haul a car (the main reason I would shy away from a 14ft) and should work well for a class I boomer with BH. What I don't know is how much further out the bush hog goes vs. the BH. Do you have measurements that you can work from?

BTW - I have a class II (TC-33) with loader and BH and the 18ft is more than big enough. Although the 16ft would've probably been "just right" for the TC33 - a little bit of extra space is always nice.

I have been messing with this issue for a while now. I am buying a 10,000 lb20' trailer for my 3130 with loader and backhoe. Tractor has loaded tires. The 20' trailer is not too long. My local dealer is letting me take home whatever I want with his dealer plate. I have had two different type trailers home now. I am learning in addition to the proper length, the tractor must be positioned carefully on the trailer to get the proper tongue weight on the hitch. This is a brand new science to me. But I am learning as best I can in my driveway and on the dead end street I live on.

I too am buying a new trailer for Kubota L34 plus FEL and BH.

I tried a 16 foot and it was a couple of feet too short for comfort.

the total weight of my set up is about 5,000# and a dealer advised that with the weight of the tractor, fuel and chains etc I was close to the limit of a 7,000# GVW if i was going to use it a lot, recommended 10,000#

I looked at Kaufman Trailer Sales in Kemp, TX and ordered a 20 foot, 14,000#, HD frame etc just to be on the safe side. their prices are quite good and they will deliver most places for $395 - look at their web site - it will help you a lot

I agree with an 18' or even a 20' trailer. Better to be a little longer than too short. You just might need that extra length some day if you haul something besides your tractor.

I have a TC24da with a BH and 16 is at least a foot too short. The one I borrowed had one of the mesh tailgates and I had to kitty corner the hoe to get it to fit. The 18' or the 20' is a much better fit.

thanks for your help guys, im now looking at a 18ft trailer, i think its a trailer flite? 8x18 its a 01 for $1550, new tires, brakes, its in nice shape, but im going to paint it black if i get it, i hate the red trailers... do you guys think its a good price?
