Mahindra 2565 with hoe, Case 530 back hoe, Hyundai180 LC-3 excavator. Love my Hoe's!
Looking at a left over tractor. 4 years old and has been sitting at distributor with 0 hours. Any advise or experience in buying a "stale" tractor?

0 hours means that it hasn't been lubricated in 4 years, bearings haven't moved, etc. I'd be concerned about all the internal damage (rust & corrosion) from lack of movement and lubrication in those 4 years. What kind of warranty are they providing? Is the warranty actually any good, or is it just a piece of paper with promises on it?

As far as I am concerned a 4 year old that has been sitting is still a used tractor and probably be priced at the top of the used market if it comes with a manufacture's certified new tractor warranty, not the Dealers word. He may be gone tomorrow. Part of negotiations would be for the dealer to replace all fluids before delivery. No warranty, it moves downward on the used price scale depending on your risk tolerance. When I was in the Naval reserve and we had $10M worth of equipment that got very little use and almost none under load, we still performed all the maintenance. The military has a hour/time standard. We disposed a lot of very serviceable lube and hydraulic oil. Several guys had farms and they took it home rather than see it go to salvage. Battery and rubber goods get a shortened life also when not exercised. We trashed tires that were perfectly good but had reached there book life cycle not tread depth.

I would rather run it for 10 or 20 hours before the fluid change. Get anything that is in there into the oil and into the filters, then out. New fluids at zero hours does next to zero to clean anything up.

Seals will fail prematurely on it.
I wouldn’t say DONT buy it. I would suggest buying it at a price that factors in the cost of anticipated future repairs and the hassle of not having a tractor for down time when something fails.

What about this particular made it sit unwanted for 4 years?

Thirty eight years out here and two tractors. Both bought brand new and used approximately 100 hours/year.

Both tractors were purchased new because I wanted to be able to use them without concern for potential repairs.

If the OP is willing and prepared - then, by all means, go for it.

Still trying to get more details, like where its setting, whether it been moved from dealer back to distributor. Actual miles I am sure its more than zero. I agree that setting can lead to problems. Its a good price I think. A bit more facts for you all to mull over. Its a 2016 TYM T754 Power shift with a Duetz motor. Full 6 year factory warranty beginning day of delivery. Now how do present or past TYM owners think of their experience with TYM and there dealers. Last thing I want is my new tractor sitting in the shop instead of burning fuel on my property, warranty or not.

I believe its not uncommon for many tractors to go unsold each year. Hanging around this long? Your guess is as good as mine. Lets face it anything a dealer tells us is taken with a grain of salt. "Trust but verify"

Start a new thread in the TYM forum and ask that very question.
