Have the 60 gallon Fimco with 12ft boom and 6 roller Hypro pump. Spray weeds in the grass and large blackberry and weed patches with a spray gun sometimes as far as 50ft. You can regulate pressure on the roller pump, high for the gun or drop to 30 or 40 to cut over spray and drift from the boom.
Had a 30 gallon on a trailer with the 1.6GPM electric and was not enough range on the gun but was ok for spot sprayer or a 3 nozzle boom for about 5ft wide coverage. If you are going to go with the 40 or 50 gallon would lean towards the PTO pump has more then enough power and never heats up or gets tired after extended spraying and makes things go quicker.
I put the pump on camlock fittings so it is easy to take off, flush and fill with oil or antifreeze to keep from corroding. If you use Roundup the Silvercast pumps are resistant to rust from glyphosate.
