Kubota L3400 4wd , weed eater lawn tractor w onan 20hp gas engine
I appreciate all the information provided on this site from experienced users. We purchased 10 acres in central Fl, a year ago. It had planted pines, which 9 acres were cleared last June. The stumps are starting to rot and crack and I need to get them out when they are weak enough. The land will be used primarily for pasture for a few horses and we will build a house there. I am a total novice to tractors. I am in the process of buying a Kubota l3400 4wd, loader, with a 5' bush hog and 5' box blade. I considered the l2800 but figured for the small extra price a few more hp in the long run was worth it. The dealer has priced the tractor delivered with tax at $16,900. Any input from recent buyers would reassure me that the price is fair. Thanks

Dennis,

Did you read through the Kubota Buying/Pricing forum?
Here is a discussion thread you might read for L3400 pricing comparisons.

Bill, thanks for the information. I thumbed through a pile of information in TBN to narrow down the choices. I finally decided I needed at least close to 30hp, and from advice from neighbors and friends, "...get the loader now", a FEL and 4wd. It was between JD and Kubota, 990 and l3400. Both are reputed to be excellent. The JD dealer wanted $20,400 for a 990 with FEL, 4wd, and no attachments. Add $1000 for for a bush hog and box and it would be $21,400 vs. $16900. The Kubota dealer also will load the tires for free. It's possible I could get a few off with a haggle, but I also know the value of having a dealer make his money and do more for a customer who gave him his profit, vs. the customer who haggled him down to the last cent. That customer will get his service, but may go to the back of the line. Anyway, I will post my experience with the Kubota as I get used to it. The thread you pointed me to appears to say that with all the attachments and 4wd, the price is about right. Thanks, Dennis

Dennis,

If your price includes the implements and tax, I would say you got a very good deal. My "good deal" litmus test involves comparing the price to the local dealer's monthly specials. They currently have a L2800DT package similar to yours priced at $14,720 before tax.

If you fill in your profile, more people might be responding. Geographic area seems to have a big impact on prices.
