The FIRST thing you buy is an over-running clutch attachment for your PTO. It slides right on and works as a ratchet. Don't even think about hooking up a bush hog without the over-running clutch. If you do, you'll find it works great until you drive up to the garage and try to stop. If the blade on the rotary mower is still turning, so are your back wheels, no matter how hard you stand on the brakes. This has caused a great deal of trouble over the years. Once the extra clutch is in place, enjoy your tractor. Swords to ploughshares...

Thanks for the help! So far the 8n is working well.

"I got a 9N today. I could not pass it up. I traded my AR15 for it straight up. it came with a box too. I still think it may be too small but we will find out i guess. Any advise on the 9N would be nice also. Thanks y'all."

Which is it, 8n or 9n? They look the same but are different mechanically.

Here is a link to a great website that has a lot of information on your tractor. Smith's Old Ford Tractors
On the main page there is a link to help you identify your tractor and also one to tell you the specifications of it. By the way, pictures of your new tractor are required here :D

Great looking old gal. Spend some time with that box blade and get used to how everything works. Adjusting the top link and the side link takes practice. You'll be able to do a lot with it.

By the way, it looks like the rippers are missing from the box blade. They go in those slots along the square tube at the front and are for digging into hard ground. If you didn't get them with the tractor, you may want to look around for replacements.

I do have them just not using them ATM. I like the old tractor for sure and have already done a ton.
