Buying my first tractor.....need help

Thanks for the info. Does Buck have a website or phone number available? I'd like to give him a buzz. Richland is not that far away for a good buy. Has anyone heard of Busted Back Ranch, owner Kim Markus in Ravensdale WA. I called him and got some info and was possibly going to view his tractors. Does anyone know of Brad's Tractors in Monroe WA. He used to sell Grays and now sells Jinma and TYM tractors. Those both seem to be good tractors. The TYM seems to have all the bells and whistles. I really want toe learn alot before I venture with the Grays. I keep hearing about the Iseki as being a real nice machine. I also understand that shuttle shift is the way to go in the small tractors. Anything else a must for a small tractor. I'll keep hunting. All the more info is appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have an Iseki TU1700F 4wd and love it.
I do not have an FEL. It has a gear tranny.
I think Yanmar is the only grey with a shuttle shift.
Buck is also great with any answers to mechanical and parts questions.
You won't be disappointed with Iseki or Yanmar.

My Iseki TA215 has shuttle shift. It is a gear shuttle. You have to use the clutch. I also have an Iseki TL2100 with a fully sincro manual shift that will go from forward to reverse as fast as the shuttle. I have bought and sold over a hundred tractors in the past few years and the TA 215 is the one I have kept for myself.

Congrats on buying your first tractor. You are where I was 9 months ago. I started looking at Greys. Local guy set up shop a few miles from my house. Used to stop by and drool over them. Did a little research, though about my long term goals and gradually shopped e-bay (good info but be very careful). Don't send any money until you are 100% sure about the source. Even then be careful. Then I started to look at new units to compare. By the way my local Grey seller closed up shop. Of course he promised he would be there to service after the sale. I have zeroed in on what at this point is a good match. New tractor, TLB package in my budget. Point is don't be in a rush. TBN is a great source of information. Check into the forums for different brands, ask questions. But take time to be sure about your purchase. If you buy to quickly and decide you need to upgrade, will you be able to bail without taking it in the shorts.

My stepdad was in the tractor business before he retired and he bought one of the first Satoh compact tractors, to many years ago to remember. It had a loader and tiller. Probably about 15-17 HP. Man the things we did with that little unit. My mom finally sold it about 4 years ago after he passed away. I still miss it and him. Wish he was here to help. He would love doing all this with me. Didn't need the tractor at the time or I would have taken it.

Jerod, I'm interested to see what you find out about Busted Back Ranch since that's only 30 minutes from me. But when i get serious about "trading up" in a year or two I'll probably go see Buck- have heard nothing but good things about him and he seems to have very competitive prices.
