Buzzsaw Belt drive to Pto Conversion

john deere m--2 cld--was running fine year ago---got real sick--coundnt use--better now---but dont want to fire--cleaned carb--new gaskets-plugs-points-dist. cap-ingition coil--geting fire to distrubator botton--none to plugs or new rotor button--my grandpa-bought tractor new--then daddy now me--been in fanily 65 years--never used much---got to keep it---anyone got advice--rick

You need to post your problem in a new thread started by you here: Parts/Repairs or here: John Deere Owning/Operating instead of piggybacking on a 5 year old thread that has nothing to do with your current problem.

new points.. no spark.

check to see that they are making electrical contact then breaking.

thus you will be checking for shorted points or condensor.

a test lamp inline with the coil primary is a big help
