Mowing BX 1500 48" MOWER BELT ?

BX 1500 48\" MOWER BELT ?

Has anyone had to replace the belt for the 48" mmm on a bx1500? They do not appear to be in stock anywheres. Its a double v banded belt and the banded part is coming off, and looks like 2 v-belts now. Its only got about 30 hrs of mowing time on it. The part # k5700-34710 can not seem to intechanged by napa or even power transmission house.

With such little hours on the belt, there must be a problem with the mower deck. I suggest that you take it back to the selling dealer and have them repair the deck and replace the belt. This should be done under warranty even if it is over the time limit, because that type of belt wear is abnormal. I have over 75 hours on my 60" MMM and the belt still looks like new. I haven't looked for that belt in the aftermarket, but from outward appearances, my guess is that it is a proprietary product of the company that manufactured the deck.

I have 3.5 seasons of cutting on my 60" MMM belt, I would say at least 200 hours and it is still fine, do what Junkman says, sounds like a problem with the deck or something.

Definitely get that checked out! I have just noticed mine starting to seperate (BX 2200), but that is after 5 years and probably 650 hours mowing.

I agree with Junkman, seems like there is a problem on your deck that should be repaired by the dealer. The belt looks VERY heavy and 3o hrs is not enough time to wear it out. Most likely the pulleys are misaligned, or the idler is not turning freely.

Thanks for all the ideas. The dealer said he will stand behind the belt replacement. I have checked the deck over very closely and find nothing wrong.

Check for a dry spindle that might be binding when it gets hot. There has to be a reason that the belt went out that fast, and I doubt that it is a defect in the belt itself. Further disassembly, while time consuming, might be in order if nothing visually looks wrong.

The spindles and tension pulley are free and spin smooth and quiet. The belt # from the Kubota web site is 5700-34710 but the belt I removed is #5700-34711. I reported this to the dealer his reply was that the last # means nothing. The machine (mowing) is used mostly by my wife and my 10yr old son. When the banding or backing of the belt started to be thrown from the deck, I inspected everything and found nothing caught between any pulley. One thing I did notice was the belt did not seem to be tight enough. I blamed that on, half the backing being gone. I also noticed black skuff marks on the front of the deck near a belt turn radius, which would lead me to beleive in a loose belt. The tension pullet swings freely maybe the tension pulley spring is not strong enough.

I don't believe this statement. I'd verify this with another dealer to be sure for your own piece of mind. Anyone I've ever bought a belt from has numbers which do mean something.

I received the new belt yesterday and installed. WOW what a bit*h. The last # on the belt part must mean something. Is it tight, it must be atleast 1" shorter. It is hard for me to beleive that the old belt had stretched that much with only 30hrs on it. So we will give this one a try and hope to get many years of service from it. Cheers
