Not a reply to your specific question but I wanted to mention that I have a 2410 with a 60" box blade and also a BX2200- a bit heavier and more powerful than your 1500.
The 60" is about maximum for the 2410 and I would think a 48" would be a stretch for my 2200. I think you might want to consider a 42" for the 1500.
I agree. I use a Land Pride 42" box blade on my BX1500 and would not want anything any bigger. The Land Pride is tall and quite heavy though. maybe a lighter model would allow you to go wider. My neighbor has a Gilmore box on his BX2230 that looks much lighter than my blade.
thanks for the info regarding blade size for my 1500; the smallest box blade I've seen advertised here in NC is 48 inches. I have a 60 inch back blade that the tractor seems to not have problem with. But I don't want to buy something that is too much for the tractor. anyone else with a bx1500 and box blade with info is appreciated.
I also have a 60' back blade for my BX2200 and I agree that both of our tractors can handle that fine. The box blade is a very different animal, though. It weighs probably 2.5 times what the back blade weighs and can really gather up dirt/gravel. I have had so much behind my 2410 that the hydraulics would not lift the blade when the dirt did not immediately fall out.
Kubota makes a B7542.
Box blades vary greatly in weight. My 48" bb weighs 565lbs.Northern tool has a 6 footer that weighs 515lbs.I have a 2230 and wanted the heavier blade for the extra ballast when using the fel.I agree a 42" bb would be better on a BX1500.
I have a 48" KK "XB" Box Blade on my bx1500. I believe it weighs around 300#. My bx1500 Operators Manual (p.5 implement limitations) lists maximum weight for a box blade at 375# and maximum cutting width at 48", so it is within spec.
I have used the BB for grading gravel as well as for some digging and levelling rough areas. I think the "XB" works fine on the bx 1500 for light scraping and levelling, but digging pushes the limits of its capabilities, IMHO.
I bought the BB mainly for counterweight for the FEL, but have also found it useful for the other purposes I mentioned.
The nice thing about the 48" width is that it covers the width of the tractor, so you're not running over your work.
