Kubota BX 1500 and Bolens ST125
I have an '04 0r '05 (picked it up in July '05) BX 1500. Its been a great little tractor. Currently has about 315 hours. Recently it has started exhibiting some issues when running full power with the mower (54MM). Sometimes it will do it under acceleration in high gear too. It will be running and then start with a quick sputter for a split second. It has also done it for as long as 5 or seconds. Enough to almost kill the motor. But, so far it seems to recover each time. I replaced both fuel filters. No change. I can let it idle to cool down (takea break between sections of yard) and it never misses a beat. Take off down the driveway, sometimes a quick sputter, sometimes not. Start the mower, put a load and it will start with the little sputters (like a miss). I thought it might've been the kill switch on the seat as it felt like it would only do it on direction changes or turning (and I recently went from 160lbs to 147lbs). Its not the kill switch. Could I be losing the fuel pump? Cranky injector? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It could be the little lift pump, its a silver thing that almost looks like a fuel filter. IF you turn the key on but don't start it, do you hear it clicking? Also people have had problems with the intake in the fuel tank clogging. It seems like one guy finally took his tank apart and the sending unit was rusting and clogging things up for him.

When you change your filters, did they seem clogged. I know mine have clogged twice, and you could tell the rear filter was restricted.

Thanks for the reply Dave. There is humming and clicking going on when the key is on. I always thought it was my hour meter on the dash. dont really hear anything coming from under the tractor. I saw the fuel pump (lift pump) when I changed the filter. Looks easy enough to swap but not sure what they cost. I like the angle on the tank though. But since it seems to have the issues when under load, I dont know what to think except pump or maybe even one or both of the injectors. Is there another pump on this motor? A high pressure pump? Thanks for the help..

My BX1500 was doing the same thing. I fiddled with both of the seat switches (pushing the plungers in and out) and that seems to have fixed the problem, maybe the contacts were dirty or maybe what I did had no effect at all and it was just a coincidence that the tractor runs better now.

i know you said you checked them, but i wouldn't give up on the seat switches yet either. might be an easy fix, if they're causing the problem.

i've had similar behavior, slowing down going down hill or turning while the MMM was active, that was definitely related to one of the switches. i toggled the switch a few times and blew some air into it since they get dusty and this solved it for me.
