I have not had time to go pick it up yet. Now a few other issues have come up with the house and our business (money... it's always about money). At this point I have not yet changed my mind about purchasing, but it's a little shakey. I'll keep you posted. BTW I wanted to see how good of a deal I could get on the 2200 so I checked with both dealers I have been talking with and the price difference between the 1800 and 2200 from both is $500.00. They both say they sell pretty close to the same numbers on each model. I tend to believe them, I have not been to one of the lots for a while but I checked the other one and he had two of each on the lot, and one of each had a sold sign on it.

I bought the BX2200. There was only 300.00 dif with my dealer. He only had 1 BX1800 on the lot and said he wasn't going to get anymore and just sell the 2200 because of the price dif. Mine run 12,800 with FEL and 60"MMM to give you an idea of prices....... Are you sure you are looking at different dealership owners? My dealer has 3 different stores in the area all with different names. I had a buddy that was trying to bargin between them and couldn't.. When I told him the same person owned all 3 he felt a little silly.. Just a thought....... Tom

I still think the BX1800 is a great tractor, but since you've delayed the purchase. Maybe delay it a bit more until
the $300 to $500 between that an a BX2200 isn't significant.

I think the extra four horsepower might be worth the wait.
Just my two cents...

Good thought Hoosier, but yes they are different dealership owners. The one I'm going with I have spoken with the owner a few times, as well as the sales person. Both good guys. The other dealer I am using as a comparison is a... well let's just say I'm not impressed.
I think I'm doing all right in price even with the $500. To buy the 2200 with a 54"mmm (not 60) and FEL would run me $12300. I don't know what the difference in mowers is because the 54 works better for my needs. But I'm still torn on if the extra hp would be noticable for the type of work I need to do. I just don't think I will be working the tractor as hard as some.

It's easy to stand on the sidelines and recommend how someone else should spend their hard earned cash. I think you've minimized the price difference in your mind, now what deck? I've heard that the 60" deck produces a smaller uncut circle than the 54". I'm not sure that this would even be an issue on your property?

With that said, I don't think you'd notice the power difference in your application. However, again not to knock the BX1800, but the BX2200 seems to be the more desirable BX and this would work in your favor if you should ever need to trade-up or sell. Neither are probably a consideration, but it's something to think about.

I'd love to be in your shoes right now. Trying to decide between two great tractors. My time will come!

The 60 inch deck is more heavily built and will produce a smaller uncut circle. It will also trim closer and easier to fences, curving walkways and beds because it sticks further out--therefore you can easily follow a contour--with the 54 inch deck the rear wheels will be very close to what you are cutting against reducing your manuverability. The turning radius of a BX is always the same but since the larger deck sticks out further into the inside of the tun it produces a smaller uncut circle which is very important when cutting around trees and other such things. I understand money problems and the relunctance to spend more than you think you need but the BX2200 and 60 inch MMM with FEL and boxblade is an awesome combination of power and versatility stuffed into a pint size package--I think it is the TBN mantra that you will discover uses for your new tractor you have no idea about right now which is why so many guys say buy bigger--I prefer efficiency but you be the judge of your own needs but then why ask if you already know?
My wife on the BX2200 way back when it was new. J

I also own a BX2200 with a 60 MMM and FEL. The trimming around trees is better with the 60inch deck. The power difference is not a big deal for me either but the trade in was the reason for the BX2200 instead of the BX1800. The local dealer told me that he also did not sell BX1800 because of the value of the BX2200 and the small difference in cost. The price I was able to get the local dealer was $11650.00 with 60 MMM and FEL if that helps

RMC, that's a very good price. Seems to be th lowest I've seen posted on here. A few of you bring up a good point about the 60" trim issue, I hadn't thought of that but it makes sense. Thank you. As far as the power issue, the longer I wait the more I think about the extra hp. I compare it to my creative business, we use Mac computers and everytime I want to upgrade I get the fastest most powerful computer available at the time. Hmmm...you got me thinking. Oh and Trescrow, that does sound like an great combo of tractor and attachments!

RMC,

I am orignally from the South Jersey area. Which dealer did you get the BX from and what town? I have family in Alloway, Ocean City, Marmora, and Egg Harbor.

Can they duplicate that price?
