Maybe someone can help me figure this out... I just went to put the mower deck on my 2001 bx1800 and can't get the mower/drawbar lift to work. It just free floats up and down by hand with no resistance... Is there a hydraulic cylinder somewhere that powers this? It worked fine all winter and seems to have started when I removed the fel. Does anyone have an idea? Any help is greatly appreciated.

My 1860 has a hydraulic lift speed control mounted below the seat. If yours has this, and it was turned off, it could be the problem. Just a guess.

I agree, try the know below the seat between your legs.

Thanks for the input guys, but that didn't work. I'm preparing for the worst now....

You might check your quick connects and make sure they all closed up properly. Most of the time there is a problem it is after you hook up the end loader, and don't get them hooked up all the way. I suppose something could be out of place after unhooking it, but I'm not sure.

Hook up the FEL loader to see if lift returns, or the loss is just coincidence.

Have you tried the 3pt lift with the FEL valve in different positions?

Please be very careful....if your loader connection hoses are a problem, then that threatens your entire tractor. That flow must not be interrupted very long...

Your 3pt hitch is mechanically connected to the mower lift arms, and when the 3-pt comes up, it raises those arms for you. If the 3-pt comes up, but the mower lift does not, that is a mechanical linkage problem. If the 3-pt goes down, and those mower lift arms fail to go down, then it means that the mower position knob is on "TOP" position, and needs to be released to an actual valid mowing position.

I will check on your progress when I get home, and see how you are doing with this issue.

Edit: Mentioned by others, if your 3-pt is up, but refuses to go down, THAT is the lowering speed knob under the seat...which controls the speed of 3-pt lowering.

Thanks ee_bota. Both the mower lift and rear links free float up and down. It seems like there is no hydraulic pressure? I will hook the loader up and see if perhaps the problem disappears. I work on hydraulics daily (repair automotive lifts) and it appears that the quick disconnects for the loader are all shutting properly.

Problem solved... I am embarrassed to say I didn't plug the two lines together to complete the circuit after loader removal. I've never used the mower deck without the FEL or snowblower on and am happy to say I've learned a lesson!
Thanks for the help.

That's great news!
