Well I'm still trying to decide between an ATV plow attached to the FEL or using a back blade. I've never had to use the 3 pt hitch before and looking over the manual I see there is no "float" position for it like the FEL or once the blade touches the driveway do you put the lever in the neutral position? When you adjust the lowering limit, do you drop the blade down to the driveway and then set the locker to that point so there is no pressure on the blade or have a slight down pressure by setting the locker so the blade is actually trying to go down a little further? Would you recomend the King Cutter regular 5' blade or the XB 5' blade for the BX 2200? Thanks.

The 3 pt is automatically floating because it exerts NO down pressure. All you have pushing down is the weight of the implement.

Get a regular back blade. It will automatically be in float mode when lowered. Further, you will find that the FEL is a very handly complement to the rear blade when moving snow.

I have a 5' King Kutter rear blade (non-XB type) and it works great. You can use it on gravel by pushing snow with the convex side of the blade while going in reverse or on pavement by pulling or pushing with the concave side of the blade. The 3PH allows the blade to float naturally. At 250 lbs, the blade is plenty heavy to stay down on its own unless the snow is packed. If you return the lift control to neutral after lowering the blade it will allow the blade to float up but not down past the original set point. If you leave the lift control lever in the down position, it will allow the blade to float up and down to the limits of travel.

Obviously snowblowers and front mount hydraulic angle blades work better, but at an order of magnitude premium in price. The rear blade is a great value IMO.

Thanks for your replies! Snowblowers and front hydraulic blades are definately out of the question. I have other toys, I mean tools that I want that are more cost effective to me-like a lift in the garage!

I got a price of $285 for the KK 5' blade from TSC and the local Kubota dealer gave me a price of $500 for a Woods RB 60 and $474 for the RBC 60 blade. He said I needed to use the RBC 60 on a BX2200. Is a Woods unit worth the extra $200? On any of these blades is it possible to level the blade from side to side when you have it angled. I read in one thread that someone was having trouble leveling the blade on a BX2230. Thanks for the help.

You should be able to level the rear blade manually using the adjustment on the right lift rod of your 3PH. However, you may find that way too much of a hastle if you must change it often. For frequent re-leveling you might wish to replace that lift rod with a hydraulic controlled unit. However, going that route would require adding a rear remote valve to your BX2200.

Leveling is not an issue with the blade angled as long as you make sure you have the implement leveled side to side and the pivot set plumb front to back (not tilted when at operating height). Start with the blade set square and level from side to side with the adjusting link on the 3ph lower arm. Then set the implement to operating height and use the top link to get the pivot perfectly vertical. Obviously, any ground humps or depressions can tilt you some and cause one side to dig in, but that is just a fact of life on uneven ground. Good luck. Stan

Thanks for th info. I'm most concerned about digging into my new blacktopped driveway when plowing snow. I see in many threads that people use the back blade for plowing but no mention if the blade is angled when they plow. I want to be able to push the snow off to one side where I have a french drain along the side of the driveway.
