Oil & Fuel BX 2200 Gas Tank Leaking

   / BX 2200 Gas Tank Leaking #11
So, what exactly did you do and what did you need to buy? I recently bought a BX2200 that has the same leak above 3/4 talk, as per the PO. I've been filling it to 3/4 and haven't experienced a leak, but it is allegedly there - might as well fix it if I can, since I hate having to worry about over-filling. Please elaborate - thanks.

Seems like this thread just died when asked about what specifically needed fixed

I know this is an older thread but I thought I'd share my experience.

I had the same leak the OP was talking about. Its not a really hard fix. The culprit is the factory sending unit. The way it connects to the tank is just by compressing a rubber gasket with several bolts/nuts. The new and improved version uses "clamps" to hold the sender. Its a way better design. Its not cheap though, about $150 from Messick's. I didn't know there was a recall but maybe it would be worth someone to check if they have the same problem.

To get to the tank you have to remove the ROPS bar and remove the rear fender then the supports for the tank. It takes a little time but it isn't too bad. You basically maneuver the tank in place to get it the sender.
