BX 2200, making kids happy

Thought you all would enjoy the following. Ever since we built our house (4 years) we have had a fall bonfire. Seems like every year more people come as we continue to host old and new friends. It has always been a great time. This summer I bought the 2200 and a utility trailer, the wife and I thought it would be fun to add hayrides to the event. I used the tractor to make a trail thru the woods and being near halloween and all we decorated it with stuff suitable for young'ns. This year we had close to a 100 people show (exceeded all expectations) and the biggest hit was the hayride thru the "scary forest". We had children, their parents, their grandparents, aunts, etc. and all of them really enjoyed the hayride, thru the trails and then coming back to a nice bonfire. The Kubota performed great, and never complained once. It gave a smooth ride for everyone. To see all of those people's smiles and excitement was alot of fun, it was nice to be able to share our good fortune with others and give back to the community. Just to be sure, I made the path thru the woods wide and flat and practiced alot with the correct load in the trailer, safety was a top priority...

It's always great to make kids as well as adults smile and laugh. Haven't been able to do that yet with mine how big of a trailer were you pulling for the kids. Did you get to take any pics?? The way the news is going its great to hear and see people having fun!! Can't wait to do something like that with my bx. I've got the wood piled for the b/fire hopefully setting a torch to the pile week after next. Glad you could have some fun with your toy.. mmmm.. I mean tractor!

Sounds like a lot of fun.

There is something magic about sitting around a fire with a few adult beverages.

We have a fire each year but for no special event. Normally on a cool winter night and a full moon.

Always after rain so as we don't set fire to the neighbourhood.

We have a TOTAL fire ban at the moment due drought so no fires for us.

The trailer I have is a 5 x 8 with 2 foot high mesh steel around it and a mesh metal gate. Next year I'll at least have a scanner for the computer so that I can get some pictures on-line...

hoss: sounds like a good time was had by all, and it sounds like u know how to enjoy life. simple things, friends, neighbors, and trator/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif besides the scanner, look into a digital camera, instant photos and able to share immeaditaly. don't have to be an expensive one. but they are handy, don't forget to drop enough hints, christmas is comming/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Hoss, I just put my L3000 away after using it for our church fall festival. We used it for a couple of days to ensure that even the little preschoolers in the morning classes at the school got a chance to ride. First time most of them had ever seen a real tractor!

It was a lot of hassle since I had to take the tractor back and forth each day, but it really was worth it. Those kids absolutely loved it. To be honest I sort of grumped initially about doing this, but have to admit that it was fun to watch the reactions of the kids - even the big ones - as we pulled them around. In this day of video games and all the attention grabbing stuff, it was nice to see how much they actually liked a very simple hayride. Guess I learned something too.

Also, on advice of TBN, I had bought the hitch adapter from Lowery's to attach the trailer to the tractor - best $55 I've spent - that thing worked great. Very strong and safe attachment and allowed trailer tongue height to be adjusted just by raising or lowering the 3 pt.

Looks like I'm already committed to next year!
