BX 2230 loader: Kubota or aftermarket...

I have a bx 2230 with no front hydraulic kit and want to add a loader, my question is, is the Kubota loader my only option and is it still available or is there some other manufacturer that makes a loader with a hydraulic kit??

Are you sure you want to do this?

The cost would be brutal. $3500+ I'd guess. I'm sure you have crunched doing that against putting those $$$$ along what you'd net out of your 2230 put against a new purchase. You would also have a mismatch of such an expensive new FEL, but on an older tractor with how many hours? Just thinking this through with you, that's all.

It might raise your input beyond its resale value at this point.

Shopping for a used Kubota FEL, which is no longer in production, would be like finding a needle in a haystack, it seems to me, and you'd still have to solve the valve issue. I'm sure Woods would love to sell you one.

I figured the cost would be about 3g's....I only have about 75hrs on it and use it as a mower primarily and plan on keeping it for a while. The reason for the interest in the loader is I'm moving into a house with more property and don't want to have to bring one of my track machines home to spot soil around, move a little stone, or whatever else I may dream up aroungd the property. Obviously it would not be used for any heavy constuction and it would be more of a luxury than anything else.... a gentelmans wheelbarrow.

I've seen the Woods unit on a BX2230. It is OK. I'm sure it will work as good as the OEM unit, but I have to be honest and say that it is NOT a looker. I think the bucket has a round back...I like the squared off back of the Kubota unit for backdragging. Functional is as functional does, though. Better than a wheelbarrow.

At the request of my next door neighbor, I snuck over to his house at 7:30 last night and spread 10 tons of gravel beside his driveway. Actually turned out really nice. With my mad FEL skills, I didn't even have to touch it up with a rake! Took a little over an hour in total. Considering the driveway is ~400' long and very hilly, I LOVE the tractor thing over the wheelbarrow thing.
