Getting ready for the snow season so I am looking at buying a snowblower for the BX. Went to the Kubota dealer and after talking about it he gave me a price of 3680 otd. Thats for hydrulics and blower installed, with manual turn chute. Is that a good price??

The Kubota blowers are built by RAD in Canada,
the open auger feeds a smaller impeller for both
the front and rear units.

Thier rear blower has an open bottom and does not have a bottom scraper which the Puma has with its heavy construction

Its no secret around here I like Pronovost snow blowers;

It would be worth it for you to price out a Pronovost rear
mounted Puma with the 62 inch width of cut.

The Puma has a higher throat opening to handle deep snow
its 24.5 inches high and the impeller has four vanes, is 9 inches deep and
20 inches in diameter from what I remember.

The rear mounted Puma operates on 540 RPM and uses the three point hitch mounting on the tractor and has a higher clearance
to enable slicing into layers of deep snow drifts.

You do not need a sub frame for the rear blower mounting either.

The puma is built with thicker sidewalls to maintain its strength and be able to remove snow banks with no worries about the sides bending out from heavy snow build ups and frozen snow banks

You can get dual hydraulics for the spout and chute on the Puma 620 and it it is built for for farm use and canadian winters

You will be able to use the Puma on another tractor if you want to up grade too.

My thoughts anyway

Holy cow.!!....I would say not but, don't take my word for it.

Take a look at, dare I say, a Frontier.

What size blower are looking for, in inches.??

Leonz....What do you mean by "a higher clearance."??

I think you need to understand that Pronovost and Puma (made by Pronovost)
are 2 different blowers.

The Pronovost is a sort of commercial blower, $$$$, and the Puma competes with say a Martin Meteor or Frontier, Kubota and so forth.

Frontier has a 24" 4 blade impeller. The Puma has a 20" impeller. I'll take the Frontier everytime. And, I just purchased a 64" Frontier that weighs 505lbs. for the great price of $2,100.

The Puma weighs 382lbs. for God's sakes.!! How can you say the Puma is a heavy build.??

If your comparing a true Pronovost to Frontier and Kubota....That would be compareing apples to shovels.

Can't beat that with a stick.!!

List for that unit (assuming the front blower) is a little less than $3,900 (not out the door). The rear blower has a list of $2,600. I guess you be the judge, how good that price is. I wouldn't consider a rear blower here since we get 15 to 30 feet of snow a year, but Alma gets a lot less snow normally than we do.

Unless you are just going to use the tractor for snowblowing you will doing much of the installation each year.

Oooh, my bad if we are talking front snowblowers. Out of my league.

Apologies.

I will say this...smfcpacfp has an awesome rig and anyone should check out his pictures and videos. He's got the front blower on a Kubota.

Can't help you with the price check. However, depending on your expected usage and physical dexterity I'd certainly look into a rear mount blower.

Pros of a rear mount blower: Much lower cost, you can still use your FEL

Cons of a rear mount blower: You are driving backwards all the time which can be tiresome.

I have a 60" rear blower on my 2350 and it powers right through our Minnesota snow. FWIW - Any snowfall less than 6" and the ATV plow gets used. Our total drive area is 1,200+ feet.

different models only

farm duty and also used for residential

No sheet metal or thinner steel.

no not really, its comparing a well built excellent proven design to shovels.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

They have a lot of happy snowblower owners and you cant beat that with stick and a huge following.

The Pronovost family name goes on every snowblower or other farm implement they build and the pronovost family has been building farm machinery and snow blowers since 1953 if I remember correctly

The PRONOVOST snowblowers have 7 sizes for the PUMA in Group 1.
The PRONOVOST snowblowers have 8 sizes for the line in Group 2.
The PRONOVOST snowblowers have three snowblowers in group 3.
The PRONOVOST snowblowers have 2 units in inverted models
The PRONOVOST snowblowers have 4 models in the XPRO line models

There is nothing wrong with what I said period. They are well built whether you buy a small "Puma" or the larger units with full welds and reinforcement where required.

The XPRO units are capable of giving you bare pavement with powder snow by acting as a back drag plow and scrape or snow plow to allow you to dispose of it and it can also be used as a back blade as well

The front opening cutting height is 24.5 inches tall from the ground to the top of the shroud allowing you to take 24.5 inches of snow depth into the cross auger and then to the impeller.

They use 540 RPM very effectively using the tractors power take off and offer a front mounting option for 540 rpm implements with a Hardy front mounted three point hitch for rear mounted attachments to allow easy use of these attachments up front to add more utility for a small HP tractor and allows you to use a rear blower, flailmower, or disc mower up front with ease to make smaller tractors more usefull with rear attachments with PTO systems.

The Frontier line was established as a way to offer the john deere line to the consumer at lower cost to the consumer because they were losing sales revenue with thier product line.

All depends on your worry level and knowing something will handle snowfall that may wiegh more than 21 pounds per cubic foot and have remove it and get rid of it.

Gear boxes fail, chains break, the sidewall steel on some blowers flexes and binds the cross augers and causes problems with removal of heavy snows and banks.

The front blower garden tractors and sub compact utility tractors to offer the consumer a way to remove snow
and thats all it is.

The Rad Kubota front blower was designed for a consumer need by using the mid mount PTO and an underbelly mounting frame with a reduction gearbox for the snowblower.

Our wheel horse has a belt drive via the front for the belly mower and if we had a blower it would have a geabox on the blower, your reducing the higher mid mount PTO speed to the gearbox on the blower to enable the chain drive for the cross auger and the pass through to the impeller shaft.

Potato, Potatoe, set the cruise control while you are in reverse and blow snow and cut banks away, theres no reason an extended chute and chute cover cover option cannot be used either to avoid issues of snow blowing on you while working.
