bx 24 rear work light

has anyone simplified the procedure to wire the rear work light on the bx 24 i cant even find the wires to connect it . the bx 23 was a breeze to hook up. maybe a pic or two would help...... thanks

I have started to work on work lights for my BX24. Attached are a few images.
First the light bar and the mounting. I used hose clamps. Quick, neat and strong. I can easily hang on the bar without movement.


I had read all the post I could find here on adding lights many of the BX23 post show the connections available for just this purpose. Under the Seat of the BX24 I did not see any wiring except the one plug in this picture.

I suspect if there is a connection it must be behind the seat right above the PTO. Getting to these wires may require removal of the BH to gain enough access. If this is the case I will try to post some pictures of what it looks like.

I just finished putting lights on my bx1500. You are right, the wire is not right under the seat. If you look under the gas tank, to the left of the PTO and upper link arms, you will probably see a red and black wire tapped to anoth wire bunch. These two wires just end. These are the ones I used. From what my dealer told me, all Kubotas have them. You just need to look (they may also be a little dirty now too). I used round grounding magnets from Harber Freight. I removed the bolt that was in the middle and mounted the lights to those. Thhey hold very solid, and can be moved anywhere on the tractor in seconds. They aslo take about 2 seconds to remove. I hooked up a 12v outlet to the aux power line, and wired the lights to an adapter to plug into it. Unplug and pop them off the ROPS, then stick them to the garage fridge. Cheap and easy solution. Total install time was about 1hr (including beer breaks).

SPK64: Love your idea of light mounting...especially if you need the protection of the rops to keep them out of harms way. Not sure if that would work on my BX2350 though due to the ROPS not being as high...pretty sure I'd be bonking my head on them....

*** Use caution when useing the existing wireing harness***
The harness will work and many folks have used it but be advised that this power connector shares the same fuse as the fuel cutoff solenoid and any short or other problem that MAY arrise from the added lights will blow the fuse which will then disable the key switch shutdown of the engine. There have been numerous posts on this over the yrs.
There is a manual shutdown lever located on the fuel pump so in the case of a blown fuse the engine can be shut down the old fashioned way

Two ways to protect against this is to add an inline fuse to your light circuit that is rated lower than than the OEM fuse -or- just run the wire all the way up to the OEM light switch and use a pass-through splice to add them to the existing light circuit. In this way one switch controls all lights and it is rated as such to be able to handle 15 amps....

Of course you may not experience any problems (some haven't) but be advised what could happen if a problem does occur...

Yes, Kwolfe it was right where you said. Looks like there is also room to route under seat if needed. And yes Volfandt an extra fuse when using this is a good idea. The lights I purchased had a fused pigtail .

Glad I could help. I ran my wire to the left and up through the hole for the wiring for the turn signal. I screwed my 12v dc outlet to a piece of treated 2x4 (cut to a square) and used zip ties to secure it to the bottom of the ROPS. It's ugly, but it was the quickest solution seeing as I needed them first thing the next morning. I like I have the 12v dc outlet because it means that they are totally removable it the need arises.

you guys are the best!! when i looked at my bx 24 at the dealer before delivery i told them i wanted to hook up the rear work light, they said we will expose the wires for you ....they let the wires above the left side tail light hang out.... they didnt even know or prolly too lazy to untape the ones posted in this thread..ok heres the pics of my new rear work light.....the last pic is my virgin bucket

Mine is actually now 3 toned. Black, rust, and mud. I don't paint it, I use it.
