No. It may drag it but you'll not do it fast enough to TURN THE SOIL OVER. Find a single bottom 10, a horse plow and a buddy works too. Good time to get yer self a tiller too!
I doubt it. A middle buster for TSC in XB series should work. If it still hard to break up the soil, you can remove the middle buster moldbord off and put chisel point on it. you then can use it as a subsoiler to start breaking up the soil. then you can put middle buster plow back on and plow the garden.
This is the only enconomy way of starting the garden other then getting a pto tiller. As a current owner with a pto tiller with my BX24, I find the tiller prepares the garden in a much nicer finish and much easier on me and the tractor. A pto tiller with a slipclutch is all you need, doesnt matter how long its been to start the garden again.
My recommendation- forget the middlebuster/subsoiler and use the same money and add another couple hundred and get the tiller. It's worth every penny.
Thanks for the advice, I found this utube video of little JD 318 pulling one and the BX has more horse power and 4 wheel drive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNKzn...eature=related
I think I found a plow used plow for cheap. Tiller would be nice but they start around $1200. Had contemplated a mid buster but never used one only a single 12" bottom plow on Allis Charmers 312 which worked with chains on 15 years ago.
