2005 BX 23
Have a bx 23 with 73 hours on it thinking about trading it in for a bx 24 is it worth it.
Dealer wants to give me 12,000 for my bx 23 and 15,500 for the bx 24.
Pros and cons

What does the BX24 have that the BX23 doesn't and how much is that worth to you? There have been some changes and minor improvements but I think the capacities are pretty much the same. $3500 would buy some nice attachments for your current BX23, which is just barely getting broken in.

I'd probably pass, but then my Wife says I'm cheap!:D

i was offered 11000.00-11500.00 if excellent condition mine only has 103 hours the 3 point hitch has never been hooked up ,the new bx 24 was priced at 15500.00 looks like you got a good deal going.

Hi:

You might want to read about the plastic floor pan breaking on the 24 on 23 it's metal. Think after all happy I got 23 last fall and did not even know about 24. IIRC the hood is also plastic on 24 from what I have read. My dealer doesn't have 1 in store maybe next month at state fair.

Did not know about the plastic floor pan.

I just would like to have more power the 23 just does not have the power for digging up stumps in a timely manner.

Looking at the new l 39 and 21

The BX 24 has one extra HP and .8 GPM of hydro flow over your 23 but I doubt it would make a substantial difference in stump digging power. Probably better to look at larger tractors for that.

From the specs on Kubota's webpage, it looks like the 23 and 24 have the same engine (same thing with 2230 and 2350), but somehow the tweaked it to be able to say its got an extra horse in there.

If you need something with noticeably more power, the BX 24 probably is not it. You might want to consider one of the slightly larger Kioti's. My next door neighbor has one, in the 30HP range, and he is able dig out stumps with his backhoe that I could never do (if I had one).

Trade for a larger machine

I have to agree. The power of the SCUT's is absurdly high for their weight. Shoot, hook a big enough rock or stump and you can pull a BX right over. That's not due to inadequate power, just a function of light weight.

OTOH, SCUT's are easy on ground cover. I rented a bobcat couple of weeks ago. The weight (almost 6000lb) just plain killed any grass i drove over. Tracks everywhere now.

My BX tools all over without any permanent damage to my grass.
