Read on here about many who think the ride on a BX is bumpy (myself included)
Had also read about a simple inner tube "fix" to soften the ride a bit...well I had purchased a small donut inner tube for some reason years ago and just put it away in it's box. Yesterday, I re-mounted my 60" deck (always a pleasurable experience)
and thought I'd try the inner tube cushion...I dug it out of it's hiding place in the basement and grabbed one of those "kneeling pads" for the garden, etc. on the way out.
The kneeling pad fit perfectly under the seat with the tube sitting on top of the fuel tank...the seat closes up nicely and the tube definitely has a softening effect on the ride. The slightly raised position of the seat caused the seat safety switch to engage going down hill but a simple siting back and pushing on the steering wheel a bit stopped the cut out on that. I got lazy and did my first mowing with the FEL and BH in place so the ride was more "bouncy" than with the tractor alone but still the inner tube did soften the ride enough to be tolerable. Next time the FEL and BH will be off the tractor so I will get a better feel for the ride...I would still love to have a better seat but for now the tube seems to work!
