BX-25D
I have a fairly new Kubota BX-25D which has two problems that the instruction manual doesn't seem to cover. Help appreciated.

First, the throttle lever does not stay in position, but always goes back to a low level. This is irritating, esp. when digging. Any suggestions on how it cab be adjusted to stay in place?

Also, it seems that the engine stops when trying to climb hills. Admittedly, my plot is hilly and I'm probably outside of the recommended operating range. But, does the tractor actually register this and shuts down as a precaution? Or is there something else going on? (I have plenty of fuel in the tank)

Remove the protective black screen below the controls and you can tighten the throttle control to prevent it from slipping. I've only done it once but it was pretty intuitive as I recall. As for power on the hills, give it more RPM. Definitely want it about 2,400 or higher. Use low range. Also, as my salesman from Messick's told me, remember you aren't pushing a gas pedal. A light touch on the HST pedal gives you lower gearing. Hope this helps! John in PA

Sometimes when going up or down a steep hill, your bum comes off the seat a little bit, and then the safety switch shuts the engine down. So, check this out, and make sure you are sitting squarely on the seat.

This. I'd bet you're coming off the seat.

Maybe your BX is skeered. Try talking to it in a calm voice as you approach the hill. Say "you can do it!".

I'm betting it's this ^^^^^^^.
I've had the same issue before, but only going downhill a bit faster than... well... expected. The switch under the seat is weird. It may take some studying to see if it can be adjusted. No disrespect, but if you are a big 'ol farmboy, the seat brackets could be tweaked enough to send it out of normal play. I'm only 6'-5" and about 260#, but have had one PITA seat suspension.

I'm with these guys on the dying/almost dying. My F has started doing this on steep downhills when I let off. I must be leaning forward or switch gotten more sensitive. Bought a new BX2370-1 last week and my wife and grandson were driving it and it was doing the same to them sporadically even coming up a hill which is a bit unusual but they must have been shifting their weight and didn't do it consistently. Grandson is so light weight I wasn't sure it would even run with him on the seat. I drove it for an hour and it never sputtered but just hummed like the Kubota BX engines normally do but there was no lack/low of weight issue with me.:D

An unexpected engine shutdown due to a seat switch is a safety issue!

I'd recommend that for the sake of safety, that the safety switch be disconnected or bypassed and a class action lawsuit /recall initiated.

"If we save just one child it will be worth it!"

Before we start a color battle, let me clarify my post was more of a comment on safety switches and trying to idiot proof equipment, which in turn causes other safety problems, than a comment on brand/color. ;)

Thank you, that was very helpful! Now my engine runs fine!
