Kubota
My kubota is approx 1.5 yrs old, with about 115 hrs on it.

It is mainly used for lawn mowing and in winter I use the FEL and a back blade.

I had a bit of pea gravel dropped off yesterday to make a dog run and when I put the tractor in 4 wheel drive it became difficult (Much harder to steer, especially turning left and felt bumpy) on the pavement. The gravel was on the pavement and I FEL'd from there to the grass where I dumped it.

If I go back into 2 wd all is fine.

I have no idea where I should start on this, but since winter is coming up? Guess who I'm asking for help :)

Hope you guys can help

Thanks

Sounds like binding from using 4WD on a hard surface.

Is that normal? I have no experience with using the 4wd except in the snow. Does that explain why it would be harder to turn in one direction than the other?

Also.. It didn't matter wether the FEL was full or empty. It felt the same.

Im not sure about one direction being harder than the other, but yes in 4WD on pavement, it will bind. The front wheels are fighting the back wheels. You can do it in the winter, because snow and ice give some slip. Otherwise, save 4WD for dirt. When I need to use the loader on pavement, I mount a homemade 1,000 lb concrete block on the 3 point hitch, and stay in 2WD.

Great, Thanks for the help.

It was only for a very short period of time for about 20-30 ft to load. I should have mounted my ballast box and kept in two wheel dr from your post.

Lesson learned. I'm glad you put my mind at rest, especially with snow season coming :)

Thanks.

I can't stand the feel of 4wd engagement on hard surface at all. I swear I am damaging it even with gentle turns. Hard turns are almost undoable. Get out of 4wd on pavement.

Pew. That is exactly how I felt.. As if I was damaging something…. I like to gentle with the tractor and take it really easy… so this was bugging my mind.

Glad to know and now I can have peace of mind and go to sleep :)

Thanks for the quick replies.

I have the same problem with my BX2370 and I have talked to the dealer and he has said that when your tractor is is 4WD the front tires speed is sometimes turning faster then your rear whees. So yes you will have some bumping but that is the reason why.
