I just performed the 300 hour service on my BX last weekend. Pretty simple, mine calls for changing the HST fluid and filter, cleaning the HST screen, changing front axle fluid, and engine oil and filter. It took me and my 15 year old son about 3 1/2 hours, but that also included taking the mower deck off and on, cleaning it, greasing it and sharpening the blades.
There was not a lot of metal on the HST filter screen but there were some larger shards on it, but that was expected. I have added the Kubota HST fan guard to my tractor, and the HST filter just clears it without removing it. I filled the front axle with SUDT, and sure enough, just like when they are new, the level lowers on its own. After the first time I mowed with it, I added maybe another pint to bring the level back up. I was suprised how dirty the front axle fluid was, it needed changing. The HST fluid was dirty, but probably had some life left in it.
