Re: BX 54\" deck will it fit?
Scrounger,
According to the Kubota Website, min transport width for the 54" deck is 56.5"
BX mower Decks
When I was shopping for my BX, the width of the deck was crucial because my door opening is only 58.5", so I actually measured deck widths at the dealer, and I can tell you that the width of the 54" deck, excluding the chute, is right on Kubota's specs at 56.5". So that would be the width with the deflector removed. As far as the width with the deflector pulled up, I'm guessing it still extends out a little from the deck itself, though I didn't measure it that way, because even with the deck off, I wasn't comfortable with just 1" clearance on each side.
If I could have gotten a
BX1830 or 2230 with a 48" deck, I believe I would have, just for the extra horsepower, cruise control, etc. IMHO, Kubota should consider mating a 48" deck to these models. As it was, I was limited to the
BX1500 because I couldn't accomodate the larger deck.
If you're facing the same situation, you may want to consider how much clearance you need. For a 60" opening, you've got a maximum of 3.5" total or 1.75" on each side. It may fit, but it may be a tight fit, and you may be gouging the door frames unless you going perfectly straight in or out. Also, if the tractor you're talking about has a FEL, the control stick module may also limit the degree to which you can raise the chute. One more thing, the chute on the 54" deck is steel, so it's not going to be forgiving on your doorframe like the composite chute on the 48" deck will. You might want to do like I did and measure one yourself on the dealer's lot, assuming there's one nearby.
Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
