First off, sorry for the long post. This past weekend I helped a friend level 60 yards of loam across about 1/4 acre. It was about 95F and RH was about 80%. I was about half way through the last 20 yard pile with the bucket loaded about 2/3 full and my front left AG tire slipped right of the rim. I did not hit any rut, nor was I turning. The ground was hard. The tire was filled 75% with WW fluid (I know, I now, most of you don't agree with this, but this is the best way for me to counter balance the tractor with the BH on and it only adds about 30lbs per front tire). I did not have the BH on at the time, but I did have my Woods LR60 hanging in the rear.

I tried to reseat the bead, but my 150PSI compressor did not do the trick. I stop by my Kubota dealer (who was closed, but still in the shop) and he tried, but couldn't reseat the bead. He ended up putting a tube in. Thinking my problems are solved, I installed the tire back on the tractor. I went to scoop up the pile I had dumped just before the first incident, and the tire slipped off the bead, again, but the inner tube was expanding past the rim and popped before I could get the FEL lowered.

Has anyone else experienced this on any BX series AG tire? I am going to try another inner tube. I am naively thinking a combination of the heat, RH, WW fluid in the tire, and it being worked all day was the cause of the slip. Now that the tire is dry, I am hoping the bead will stick and I should be all set. Any comment? Thanks in advance.

Just a thought, but the initial problem was likely caused by too little air pressure. Then I suspect the bead may have been ruined from slipping off with a full load. The mechanic who put the tube in should have noticed a problem if there. My guess then would be you need a new tire. It should not have happened unless there also was too little air pressure in the tube in the tire.
Work some of that 'blackmajic' on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What was the air pressure each time? Any idea?

I've been toying with the idea of a set of the ag or "bar" tires for my BX, but I think I will put foam in all four. Only for the fact of puncture prevention, not bead-slipping. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I will be interested to know how this turns out for you.

What tire pressure were you runing the fronts at? I too was doing FEL work this weekend (85° with little humidity, moving about 50 yards of road base to cover a culvert) and the recomended 22 psi held my front R-4's okay all day.

Also, a tire can slip if you use too much lube on the bead.

just a point of info, you can save yourself a headache or two and get 2 new tires and rims already mounted from kubota for about 100.00 if you buy only the one make sure you get the right side cause they are a directional tire i keep 2 in stock now myself ...good luck

hello,
I wonder if the window fluid didn't soften the tire. When I break semi tires down I use window washer fluid between the rim and bead . This helps a lot to break the seal on the bead. A old timer showed me this trick and it works. So in conclusion,I think that helped your bead to break.

Av8r2230, where the heck did you find a set of R4's for your BX !? I've been looking for a set for some time. I thought I searched everywhere. All I can find is R1's (Ag's) and R3's (Turf's), no R4's (Industrial) ...

My bad. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Mine are Turfs, not R-4's. Sorry for the unwanted excitement.

My front and rear are filled with antifreeze and water and last winter in the deep snow, I was pulling my brother out of the ditch and the left rear started slipping on the rim, it was low on air pressure, aired it up and hasn't slipped again. Have to check the filled tires often as there is a smaller space for air and they will loose air, don't take much to make them low.

All,

Thank you very much for the info. The problem lies in the bead. It was indeed distorted when it slipped under full load. A new tire and wheel are on order from my dealer for $40. Thanks for all of the comments.
