I want to purchase a bottom plow for my BX25. It seems all the "low profile" or mini moldboard plows don't have the guage wheel or colter attachment available. Growing up we always used the colter to get a cleaner cut and roll of the ground so I really want this attachment.

The Cat 1 Hitch on the BX25 or course is limited in Height so one older Dearborne plow I looked at was too tall. Does anyone know of a single moldboard plow with the attachments that will work on the sub-compact Kubota?

I did find a 3 pnt Brinly plow Cat 0 but wanted to ask here before I purchase it. I also bought one of the old Sears Suburban plows and it is too small and won't hook up properly.

How much plowing are you talking about? How much does a mini moldboard plow for a bx cost? If you're looking at more than a grand, i'd consider buying a second tractor that's designed for plowing.

I assume you have r4 tires on your bx. They aren't much good for traction in the soil. Something like an 8n or a Farmall h will pull a 2 bottom plow all day and should only set you back 1500-3000 with a plow.

There's my two cents.

This is one <$600 option with an optional coulter:

Everything Attachments | Single bottom compact tractor plow made by one of the longest running families in the plowing business.

Or this one from the same place with coulter on it.

Thank you motownbrowne for the suggestion. I don't have that much to plow... just a garden. It is bigger than your average garden because its for 3 families. I think I could plow it in 2 hours max... maybe 1 hour with a single plow. The plow that jeff9366 just suggested is around $500 so even though I would like to have an 8N is probably doesn't make sense.

The issue with the plow from everything attachments according to their website the colter won't work with tractors which have the stabilizer's inside the lower arms... and they are inside on the BX25. I don't have to have the colter but I would like to have one.

Howse makes a mini "low profile" plow too but the don't offer the colter or gauge wheel for it. Does anyone out there have their standard cat 1 single moldboard plow? If so I would like to know the height of the lower arm pins and then the height of the center pin hole from the ground when the plow is sitting on the ground.

If it's just for a large garden, have you considered a rototiller? Once you plow, you'll need to disc once or twice and likely follow with a drag harrow twice or more.

A rototiller will be more expensive than a plow, but less that the plow, disc, and drag. It will also do the job in fewer passes. They can usually also be rented locally, though you'd have to make sure a 4' tiller (that's what I usually see at the rental yard) will fit on your tractor.

Currently I am using a Brinly 12" plow on my New Holland TC24DA. It has the coulter but not the wheel. So far it has not suffered from the larger tractor.

That is a great point - a tiller does an excellent job and makes quick work of a garden even if it is large.

I concur with MOTOWNBROWNE, a PTO powered rotary tiller is the better choice.

With a PTO powered rotary tiller you can turn under bushels of Fall leaves for humus.

If you are doing the tiller route, check with the neighbors. I am not a real fan of "going in together" with other people on things like this but you could "hire" it out. You know hay Fred I need help with fixing this gutter on my house and you want a bigger garden. I know it is the stuff neighbors do for eachother anyway, but I have found that as I get weaker and weaker about the only thing I can really offer is my brain (good luck with that) and equipment.
