Last night after finishing up our Christmas light display, I pulled onto the driveway to unload some stuff and noticed that the BX is leaking coolant. A quick look in the dark with a flashlight confirmed a leak near the lower radiator hose. I haven’t looked at this any further, and hope it’s just a loose hose clamp and not a water pump. Anyone had any coolant leaks to report on.

Jim, I "though" I had one with my previous BX, but it turned out to just be the overflow after a long mowing session on a very hot, dry day. (The screen behind the radiator got clogged with airborne material)

Is the hose really leaking, or is it an overflow/temperature situation?

Could to much coolant been added,so when the BX started up or shut off last time might cause an over flow??

Check the level in the raditator to see if still normal..also place something like cardboard under the drip area..than wipe the section clean w/a rag, than recheck in a coiple of hours or so,if still dripping you should beable to locate the problem w/ a flash light.

My 2 cents worth.

Well, my first thought last night was overflow, but the temp was normal and the screens are clean. The overflow tube is on the right side of the engine and the leak appears coming from the lower radiator hose on the left side. I’m going home for lunch today and will take off the side bonnet to get a better look. I’ll report when I get back.

The lower hose assembly is actually 3 parts, 2 rubber hoses and a metal tube connecting them together. The tube is used because of clearance with the fan belt. It’s bolted to the block. It’s leaking where the lowest radiator hose connects to the metal tube. The clamp was tight. I pulled off the lower hose and inspected it. The rubber hose was ok but the metal tube has a crack in it. Looks to be a bear to get off. I’m going to let my dealer handle this one.
