I thought I'd bring this subject back up again, because I was able to see the OEM BX cab today at the dealer. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Without a doubt it is a very nice cab. The one they had there had a fully insulated CARPETED liner across the fenders, under the seat and a thicker pad on the floor. The heater (optional) is mounted in the ceiling and looks like it came off an "L" series tractor, very nice. As a joke I asked if AC was available, and the salesman said YES!! There is now available a stand alone roof mounted electric AC system, I don't remember from who though.

I was disappointed to find out that the heater is a $300 option as was the 40 amp alternator. I was under the impression that for the $4700 price for the cab these items were part of the "kit".

Another interesting note the door (only one) and windows are NOT removable, a-la Curtis. Without that AC unit (I didn't ask how much) this thing would be a hot-box in the summer, even with the swing outs open.

On the lower left front of the cab (from the operator seat) there is a grill. Behind this grill is a duct which goes to the radiator. This ductwork also covers the intake side of the grill keeping the heat inside the cab rather than allowing the fan to suck it all out. So, fresh air is ducted through the grill on the lower left, to the radiator separate from the interior. Without a doubt this is a QUIET cab.

The loader valve on this tractor was different from mine also. The ports were in a square formation, not in line. It was not the older style 4-way, but it was not the same as mine. It had a straight joystick too. It fit to the cab nicely, so I don't know if this would also have to be purchased separately, too?

This looks to be quite a nice cab, but it is VERY expensive, and does not come as a complete kit (heater, lights, alternator) as I thought. With the addition of the AC I wouldn't doubt that this unit would be in excess of $7500, for just the cab, uninstalled!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It's only money and the last time I checked, they still weren't making caskets with pockets, and they don't take travelers checks where I am going.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you for posting this. It's been as hot as 117 degrees while I've run my BX2200. AC sounds really good (though it might only bring the temp. down to 97-providing the heat didn't overwhelm it completely). When I cut Russian Star Thistle with the RC, it pulverizes it. The stuff is full of poison so I have to wear one of those big respirators and goggles so as not to breathe it or get it in my eyes. Otherwise it triggers pretty bad asthma. An air conditioned cab sounds like a dream. I think that the price is so high that I'd trade up to a B3030 before buying this, but I'd surely like to read more about it. If you have a link you can post, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

Cab Info

This is the page on the Kubota website. Not too informative. The AC system was an aftermarket system, not through Kubota.

I was just a bit disappointed to learn that the other equipment (heater - $300 and alternator - $200) were not part of the $4700 price for the cab. I would definitely go Curtis over this, just for the cost reasons. Also with the Curtis you can remove the doors and windows along with the rear panel for ventilation (and backhoe use?). The roof design prevents the door and windows from coming off this one. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I agree, upgrading to the B3030 cab model would be better than this.

I have a Sims cab and I just take the entire cab off for the summer, 7-8 bolts and off it comes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Av8r2230,
I just checked with my dealer today and the cost of the cab right from the Kubota price book was $3800 which included the roof mounted heater and the following standard features.
All glass windows and doors maintain clear visibility.
Cab roof mounted heater and fan with 33,000 BTU capacity.
Front work lights. Heavy-duty front pantograph wiper system.
Left exterior mirror. Dome light. Roof mounted controls for ease of operation. The heavy duty alternator was $171 and the AC was an after market model for which I do not have a price.
