The back housing of my BX2200's is wet with hydraulic oil - not enough to make a puddle under the machine, but visibly wet. It appears to be coming from somewhere up high - certainly above the PTO output. I can't see any place blatantly leaking. 3 pt hitch arms seem the highest place that might leak - is that common for these tractors? I wouldn't expect so. Is there anything else above that housing that might leak like a hose or anything? Thx.

On our bx2660, there was a hard hydraulic line that went around the back above the PTO. There was a recall on it because it would vibrate and crack and the fix was to replace it with a flexible hydraulic hose. It's been several years with the flexible hose on there and it's been working just fine.

Did you recently add fluid?
If you flip the seat up you will see a device that usually has a small red cap on it. This is the HST vent. It's way higher than the fluid level in the HST but if overfilled it could leak. If you ever get the occasional whiff of hydro fluid on a hot day it's coming from that vent.

With the seat flipped up clean the entire HST as best you can then monitor.

Likes been said, the fuel tank is also over that area. Theres no fuel fittings in that area but the tank is plastic (actually stronger than that) and may have a crack (which is highly uncommon).

Good luck

I'm pretty sure it isn't the fuel tank (though with the way that thing eats fuel when mowing, one wouldn't be surprised). I'll have to look for that hard hydraulic line mentioned above - that could be the thing. Thx.

With ours, when you lifted the 3 point up all of the way and held the lever in the up position, it sprayed fluid, otherwise it dripped.
IIRC, it is the power beyond from the front loader (and/or rear remote if equipped) valve(s) bringing pressure to the 3 point valve.
