Hi Matt,
I have a Greene PHD that I got from Northern. The U-bar is 32" from pin tip to pin tip. I can get it on the
BX2200, but barely. I have to completely loosen the turnbuckles and raise the lift arms to mid-height where they will open wider than they will when fully up or down. The U-bar will not go on except at mid-lift height of the arms. As I sit here, I can't remember whether the arms will spread the full 32" or whether I "cheat" it on by pushing one pin fully into it's hole before doing the other one. As each pin is 2" this would reduce the necessary spread to only 30". Because the pins point outward, once the U-bar is on and the turnbuckles tightened, the arms draw back to a 28" spread. Once the rest of the unit is attached and the arms tightened to a 28" spread, the PHD can be lifted or lowered the full vertical range of the lift arms.
What is the spread between the pins on your blade? Do they point outward or inward? Are they welded on or bolt on? Here are some possible scenarios:
1. If they are bolt on and point outward, does the design allow for them to be reversed inward?
2. If they bolt on, point outward, yet cannot be reversed inward, could you put on shorter pins?
3. If they bolt on and point inward (or can be reversed to point inward) could you put on longer pins such that the required spread is reduced?
A couple of other considerations are:
1. If you can get it on at mid-height as I described above (using a dolly, hoist, etc. to elevate it initially), will you then be able to lower it enough to be useful?
2. Don't forget to check pin diameter differences between Cat. 1 and 2.
The Pat's extenders might give you the extra width you need. Let me know if you need me to make any other measurements; I'll be glad to help. Good luck.
