I picked up a used Kubota bagger and when I tried to put the deck boot on the chute deflector will not stay up. Is this part supposed to come off the mower deck when you use the boot. How do you keep it out of the way. How does it come off/ Dusty

Dusty, there should be a tab on the shoot that holds the deflector open.

Thanks for the reply. It has that stop, but the spring of the chute deflector overpowers it and pushes the boot off the end.

My deflector rides past the stop also but it does not push the chute off. Do you have the bungee attached?

Bungee attached. Only way to stop it would be to drill a hole and bolt it on. I looked at removing the spring, but don't know how I would reattach it later once the spring tension is removed. Need to figure out how the factory did the original install and then reverse the procedure.

Evidently, Kubota did see this as a design flaw. On later models the boot is secured with a thumb screw and weld nut. Works great.
Mine is a Bx2230 with a GCK54 for reference.

I had a bagger for my 60" mmm on a BX2200, but eventually sold the bagger. The boot strapped in place and just held the chute open and deflector back.

I think you could get the deflector and spring off, but I just can't see how you could retorque that spring and get it back on.

I did drill a little hole in the end of the deflector so that I can attach a bungee cord, flip the deflector over about 170 degrees and secure the opposite hook on the opposite side of the floorboard when I park the tractor (mmm attached) in the garage. This makes it such that I don't need quite as wide of a lane into which to drive the tractor into its garage bay. I can have more of other stuff stored for the full length of that bay.
