I notice that the mmm on my son's BX2230 does not drop or lift in one smooth operation like it should. As you move the lever either forward or backward the mower deck will drop or rise a small amount and then the lever will move back to center and to get the mower to move further to it's full up or down position you have to repeat several times. Also the cutting height adjustment does not seem to make any difference, the mower deck will go all the way to the ground if you keep jogging the lever forward. The tractor is still under warranty, is this a simple adjustment or does it need to go to the dealer.

My suggestion would be to first check to make sure that the deck is properly installed on the tractor, lift arm pins properly attatched etc. If the tractor is still under warranty and everything APPEARS to be "hooked" up properly, I would stop by the dealer and run the problem by them for advise.

There are a number of adjustments that could be the cause. FIrst thing I'd do is spray some lube on the deck control knob (Under the seat on the right side of tractor). The adjustments are detailed pretty well in the mower manual, I'd suggest going through them as it doesn't sound like yours is adjusted at all. If all else fails, get it to the dealer...

My guess is that the springs on the 'implement lowering linit' is not set correctly. This controls how low and high the 3ph (which the mid mower is actually connected to) goes before the control lever returns to the center. It is on page 27 of the BX2230 tractor manual. Looking from back of tractor, inside right rear wheel, there is a rod with two 13mm (1/2") nuts on it along with two springs, a locking collar, and a roll pin. With the 3ph raised about half way up, loosen the lock collar and slide it further toward (almost to) the the roll pin. Lower the 3ph. Adjust as necessary for desired operation when lowering.

Again with the 3 point hitch about mid-way loosen the two nuts and back them off until the 3 ph raises all the way and the control lever returns to center

Of course the usual saftey precautions apply about not working (turn it off before making the adjustments) on a running tractor etc.

When adjusted properly this should fix the raise/lower part way problem and also return the control lever to center when the 3ph is fully raised.

The new BX series uses a quarter inching valve, and it is possible that you need to push the lever to one side ( the right I think) as you push it down to bypass the quarter inching stop. I'm not sure about this since I don't own one, but I think I remember seeing that when I was looking at a BX 24 earlier this spring.

Thats only true about the new models, the BX2350 and the BX24. He was referring to the 2230 which doesn't have the quarter inching valve.

Thanks for info on adjustments. I will give it a try and let you know how it works out.
