Got a new problem with my BX. Haven't called the dealer yet, but I am wondering if it's just mine or with the BX in general.

One of my tail lights is out. So, I attempted to remove the screws on the lens cover. Turns out that 3 of the 4 screws are stripped (they turn without loosening nor tightening). My guess is that someone at the factory set their pneumatic or electric screwdriver to 500 lbs-ft and torqued them down (or do they hire ex-Sumo wrestlers?). Anyway, you might want to check if you can get those covers off, before the warranty expires.

Speaking of taillights!

I was repositioning a rake on the 3pt on the cement in the garage. Implement was maybe a couple of inches off the ground. Heard a loud "CRACK" and the orange lense on the flasher lamp broke and flew off landing 4 feet away.
A chunk of the lense near the edge had broken off. Got it snapped back on but WHAT THE HE**?

Geez Mr. K at least give me a chance to drive the tractor with no implement on the back and smash into something! Don't let the stuff break with nothing near it!

Thanks for the post on the tailights.

I ALSO HAVE A NEW BX AND WHILE MOVING THE TRACTOR TODAY I DISCOVERED ANTIFREEZE ON THE GROUND.THE CAUSE THAT I FOUND WAS THE HOSE CLAMP TO THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING WAS NOT EVEN SNUG I COULD SPIN THE HOSE BY HAND.LUCKLY I FOUND THIS PROBLEM BEFORE DISASTER COULD HAVE STRUCK.BECAUSE WITHOUT ANTIFREEZE IN THE SYSTEM THE COOLANT TEMP GAUGE WILL ALWAYS READ A LOW TEMP WITHOUT COOLANT PASSING OVER IT.SO AS A TIP I RECONDMEND TO ALSO CHECK YOUR RADIATOR HOSE CLAMPS AND COOLANT LEVEL.

Roy,

From the BX activity on this board, it seems that Kubota created a sub-compact tractor with a high demand. It is possible that while struggling to keep up with customer demand the quality control was jeopardized. It's great that you guys are helping each other catch things during warranty.

Good Luck, let your dealers know so that they can send word up through the proper channels, they can't fix it if they don't know that it's broken!

I received my BX2200 a week ago Friday and I too had a antifreeze leak. To this day I dont know what I did to fix it. I tightened all the hoses and tubes, replaced the fluid in the overflow tank, and it doesnt leak any more. One other thing that Kobota did not do.......they have a lock up position for the mid mower deck but there is no way to lock up the 3 point hitch when lowering the mower deck. Any suggestions.

I wouldn't think it would be possible to do that, but I don't have a BX. Does the 3 point get in your way or do you have an implement on it that you want to keep up while you mow? Since it is the same mechanism that moves both, I doubt that it is made to be used that way.

No light problems yet. I bought a BX2200 from local dealer, equipped with loader, 60” belly mower and grass catcher. When attempting to mow the first time I kept clogging up the shoot in the grass catcher. Referred to the manual and sure enough Kubota clarified the amount you should cut at any given time, i.e. not more than 1/3. In their defense I was cutting off about 3” of heavy grass. I ended up leaving the shoot off for the remainder of the mowing instead of mowing twice. I mow about 3 acres of thick lawn. During the second mowing I cut about 1 ½ “ of grass and the catcher worked good. But, I discovered the following PROBLEMS with 12 hours on the machine; 1) The top outside corner of the frame had a sharp edge from the factory that cut through the adjacent bag. 2) The blower stopped rotating on the grass catcher, sheared pin. I didn’t pick up anything and the blower turned freely by hand. 3) Gearbox at blower was leaking gear oil onto my garage floor. Contacted my dealer on Friday. He assured me they would take care of everything. They picked up the catcher on Mon. and returned it Tue. evening with a new gearbox and bag. Is currently working great. I really love the tractor. I agree with other postings that the problems are due to the quality being sacrificed to keep up with demand. I will continue postings as the hours accumulate. P.S. I am looking for a good quality tow behind drop spreader and a used tiller. Give me a shout if you have any recommendations.

I would be tempted to look at the Tractor Supply tillers. They are very reasonably priced. Have never used one. Would like to have the Woods Heavy Duty Tiller, but it cost over twice as much. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Guys, I think you are seeing the usual assembly differences from a tractor being manufactured in Japan and the USA. Does not say too much about workmanship in USA.
