Mowed today and discovered a new fuel leak. This leak is under the left rear fender where a hose goes into the regular fuel tank. I replaced the tension fuel line clamp with a worm gear type clamp and cleaned the area with degreaser. Rechecked the clamp area after allowing to dry and noticed diesel still leaking and it appears to be coming from the neck area of the hose fitting. I suspect the seam on the tank may be leaking and probably will have to return it to dealer for repair. Just wondering if anyone else on the board has this problem and if so, your fix. This leak is not the same as the small tank inside the left frame. This has already been replaced by dealer.

Common problem for which a recall exists, your dealer (I hope) should be aware of it. Search the archives, lots of info, comments and one fellow even posted a picture of the recall notice.

I searched and could only find one post related to the black fuel tank leaking. BX fuel tank leak rogue 08/07/01 12:24 PM. Perhaps you can recall the other post and point me in that direction. Thanks again for your help.

I know exactly where your leak is occouring because I went through the same scenereo a couple of months ago. The scource is the where the fuel tank sending unit fits into the tank and the only remedy is to replace the main fuel tank with an updated piece. I started out investigating the problem myself and tried replacing the rubber sealing grommet myself but it still leaked. The fuel sender unit is just a friction fit into the tank with no means of holding it down believe it or not so the fit is critical and it seemed pretty loose. I was a little fed up at that point so I bypassed my dealer's service manager who was also baffled and called the area factory service rep. Well he knew exactly what I was talking about since he just took care of another unit with the same problem and said the fault was with the tank itself. Within a week my dealer had a new tank, picked up the tractor and installed it and had it back to me. I sure hope this ends the fuel system woes on my BX since I also replaced the little white fuel distribution block on the frame last year. I think those rear fenders have been off a half a dozen times now if I count the malfunction of the fuel sender when I first bought the tractor.

I've been there too.
These things happen I guess. Just a little disheartening to see how often the SAME things happen. I wonder how much they saved be not making the tank a little heavier duty?

I had that same leak several months ago. It is the line on the left rear on the bottom side of the tank. There is no recall for that. The only remedy is replace the tank if it is under warranty, or if not use a sealent around the seam. The seam is most likely broken (it has no real protection from something hitting it either). Mine was replaced under warranty.

I'm convinced that when the dealer installed the loader and associated hydro stuff, he hit, torqued, pushed the tank and caused the failure of the seam. Mine was not the little tank but the main tank and it was the seam. New tank is OK! To this day I haven't used it much since because my grass died from fear of the mighty BX. Or it could be from no rain..

The dealer called me to day and stated he had the parts ordered for the fix. He believes it is going to be the sending unit leaking also. I did not mention this to him so apparently there is a problem. He is also going to fix the HST foot control with the new grease fitting and replace the white secondary gas tank again. My white tank has already been replaced once but it was early in the year before the recall came out from Kubota. Thanks for your help with a possible fix. Thats the good thing about this board, we can all benefit from one another in trying to resolve a problem.

Attn. Stephen m. Just a follow up on this post. I got my BX2200 back this week after dealer repaired the fuel leak. It was exactly the same problem you described. It seems that the sending unit does not fit the tank tight enough to keep fuel from leaking when your tank is full or near full. The dealer replaced the tank, also replaced the small white tank inside the frame and installed the grease fitting on the hydrostat foot control pedal. Hopefully, this will solve any production problems with this tractor model. Thanks for sharing your information about your fix. This assisted me when talking with my dealer about the problem.
