hey all,
hows all the bx owners doin? rackin up those hours? i have been. 6 weeks and i have 45 and went to the dealer to get oils and filters. good thing i was payin attention, the guy tried to give me plain ole UDT instead of the super. anyway, how many of you have done your 50 hr checkup yourself? im gonna do mine and was wonderin what you guys have discovered in drain oils and strainers as far as shavings and whatnot. i love my bx and have had not one problem except for me and the loader vs the invisible fence wire ( old post). anyway, let me know some tips if any, this is my first diesel.

No personal experience except to say that I think your doing the right thing, doing it yourself. Nobody loves your BX like you do. Good luck.
Are you going synthetic on the oil??

I performed the 50 hr service myself.
Note:
1) You will need more Super UDT than is called for. Have 3 gallons on hand.
2) The tranny strainer had a small amount of shavings.
3) Everything is readily accessible. Very simple work.

The BX is great. I just added the FEL to mine. Wish I had gotten it originally. I have 70hr+ with no problems other than the sticky gas pedal.

Rich, You should not see any shavings in the drain pan from either the oil or hydro fluid, but you may clean what appears to be an alarming amount from the transmission screen. Every experienced Kubota person I have talked to has said this is ok.
You will sure need the three gallons of hydro fluid, though.

Did my own 50 hour on my BX not long ago. Everyone is right about the fluid amount of the hydro, you will need every bit of 3 gallons. You will also need more oil for the engine than is listed, mine took 3.5 quarts to get her full. (I put in Amsoil synthetic 15W-40).

I also found an alarming amount of shavings, etc, on the strainer, but it's normal, believe it or not, at least for the first two cleanings.

I am curious as to what the results would be if you put in the UDT instead of the super, especially for summer use....

Where is the Transmission Strainer located on the BX. It was mentioned that it is easily accessable.

Our Bx2200 goes in tomorrow for a "Free" initial 25 hour servicing. They will put in whatever type of oil we want....we're not sure which type to use. Any suggests 15W40.....what brand? They are also going to fix the Fuel guage problem.

I don't see a problem with using Super UDT for summer. I assume it is a multigrade oil and UDT is single grade. The label states "provides high performance protection even at high operating temperatures"
