Ok, we all may not want to admit it, but winter's coming. I went out and bought a block heater for my BX2350. I was expecting one that threaded in like my BX2200 did...I even have the tool for it, a 17mm hex wrench. To my surprise, it goes in where a freeze plug is installed by the factory in the engine block.

Anyone done this yet? Can it be done with normal tools? (I don't have a "freeze plug removal tool" if such a thing exists). If anyone knows how, I'm all ears. FYI, it's a 25mm freeze plug.

Also, if anyone's interested, I can take pics and post it as a project if you so desire....

Thanks folks...sure hoping I can get this done in the next few days....

I have a BX2230 and the dealer came out to install my block heater and , as I recall, they forgot or lost a specific tool to open up factory plugged hole in the block. The took a large screwdriver and a hammer and punched through it and then pryed it out. To my surprise, the block heater just threaded right in! Don't try that at home!

I had a heater installed at the time of purchase (before delivery). I had thought a "block heater" was not available for the 2230 at all, but instead the heater simply heated up the coolant/antifreeze. Is this not correct?

Some heat the bock, some heat the water, some heat the oil, some all of the above. You can buy an aftermarket one that sticks on with a magnet.

Watch the wattage use on some of the larger ones, on some pickups it's like leaving your wifes big hairdryer on all night!! :)

I installed one in my 2230 last spring. I used the hammer and screwdriver technique. It went without a hitch. You will need a one inch socket to drive it in unless your block is threaded (mine wasn't). My dealer had a had time finding one for me. For others looking for one the part no. is 70000-00771.

The same block heater is available for the BX2230 and BX2350. the instructions specifically mention both tractors. The BX2200 block heater screws into a threaded plug, whereas the 2230 and 2350 gets to be hammered in (carefully, I guess)
