BX Rock Moving 101

One day while helping a neighbor in exchange for some rocks (yeah, I work for rocks) he showed me how to pick-up rocks that would not fit in the bucket. He says, “Put it on top of the bucket” – say what /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

For certain shapes (luckily the ones I was interested in) it’s pretty easy to slip the bucket underneath and get it on top (see attachment).

I was able to get some nice bigger rocks this way loaded onto my trailer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nothing wrong having a nice tool but as I found out sometime there’s a trick that can get the job done with what you have.

Camera is dead, so no pictures for a while until the new one arrives. Remind me next week and I will get a picture posted. The bucket is the standard BX 48" bucket. A design change is in the works to allow the basic design to accommodate wider buckets. I don't have the details yet as to how much wider they will fit.

( Junk, do you have a picture of how much is left on the bucket when the grapple is rmoved? )

Found this picture on my computer this afternoon... not the best, but clear enough to show you what you wanted.... Junk..

I was pushing this rock around and tried to roll it and as I lifted the bucket I realized it was holding pretty well.

I estimate that it weighs upwards of 2000 lbs - not bad for a woods loader. Steering was a bit tough, but I managed to move it 100+ yards to where I wanted it.

Thank you, Junk.

I gotta get away from this site! You guys are spending all my money! (Cab, TnT, Power rotator on blower, now a Grapple!) I'm gonna have to sell the tractor to buy all the stuff I need now. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It is only money and you can take it with you, but it is going to be incinerated where I am going when I get there... Better to spend in topside than below ground. I figure that her next husband will appreciate all the nice things that I leave behind for him to use..../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Any time after May 1st.... the ground is too frozen now and in a few weeks it will be too muddy. After that, you are welcome to come over and even try it for yourself... Junk...

Junkman....

Since you have a lot of knowlege bout desgining and building rock grapplers, so you think it would be possible to build one (or if ya know a mfger who makes them) for my 3 PH with just a single tooth for my NEW JD2210 that I could use for "prying" loose around the edges of rocks...????
