BX sanding/salt solution

I am trying to figure out a reasonable sanding solution for my bx24. I have the Kubota plow and have a 1/4 mile plus driveway with a good grade. Will a mini spreader work with sand? I have never used one and have no idea how they will actually work...I am curious what other solutions people use? Thanks in advance.

I haven't spread sand with mine but I have used it to spread "Ice Melt" without any problems.
