Hi All, I'm curious about the relative strength of the front end assembly of the BX series. I've got a 2660 /w 33 hrs on it, and in those hours I've really put it through it's paces. I've piled probably 100+ yards of saturated mud/hay from my horses paddock, spread 15 yards of gravel, and now that winter is here, I'm moving rediculous amounts of snow (curse you, early winter!) Through most of what I've been doing, I've had to use 4WD, as I just don't have the weight in the back to keep traction when I have a full FEL load (even with a ballast box filled with patio stones.)

In all of this, I can't help but wonder if the front end is going to hold up to what I'm putting it through. I try not to overload the bucket, but sometimes I know she's right at the limit. Can these little beasts generally stand up to such abuse over the long haul, or should I put on the kid gloves when using the FEL?

I didn't have any strength issues after 8 years with my BX2200. We did some major landscaping/remodeling this year including putting in about 700' of drainage. There were a couple days when the ground was too wet for the contractor to use his beefed up skid steer to move stone to fill in the drainage. I used the BX2200 to move the stone and kept 4 guys busy all day. The contractor was impressed and itchy to give it a try. I had a hard time getting it back from him.

At the end of the project (which included a new garage/shop for the tractor) I decided a shiny new BX2660 would be a nice final touch.

I don't think you'll have any issues with front end strength.

Just a common sense guess on my part, but the bucket will only lift so much weight. If you try to lift something to heavy it just won't have the hydraulic power to do it. I would think the axle would hold up to anything the bucket is designed to haul. Remember you got the thing to work it hard right? Just don't abuse it, which to me it doesn't sound like you are.

you gotta figure that kubota is going to build that front end to handle way more than the max weight you could possibly put in the bucket otherwise there would be massive failures. what happens when you have the max weight in the bucket and your moving it from a to b and it gets a little bumpy. that axle has to be able to not only handle 500-600lbs in the bucket but the trashing around of that weight plus the weight of the tractor. you'll be fine:)

Really , we are at the mercy of kubota for front end strength aren't we. If they try to go cheaper with materails, design , etc.. then we all lose out, comumers, manufacters, dealers, etc. I for one need to have faith in kubota building our BX's, otherwise we will never get anything done right ?;) I dont mean to imply let's push the limits , but everyone knows that it only takes a moment , one time thing just to try to do more then we can chew..

I know that my bucket is full when my back wheels come off the ground.

I moved 100 tons of sand into my arena and spread it, probably at least another 50 tons from the sand wash to my horse stalls, 50 tons or better of gravel for my yards, and all of the dirt out of the hole for the swimming pool (actually moved that twice). I think you will flatten the tires before you hurt the front end. I also move two or three bucket loads of horse poop from my stalls everyday.
