I was told by my service rep from Kubota years ago, that putting water in the front tires is harmful to the front end. Was told it had some adverse affect on the front differentiol, yet, there are front wheel weight and nose weights since the beginning of time. What's the difference? Are there other dealers out there who can give me their take on this? Is it harmful to water the front tires. I have a customer right now who has a little "extra" power steering when loading the rear end. I know the suitcase weights are available, but the extra weight from watering would be helpful. Any thoughts?

I think that service rep had a misguided theory, I can't see how fluid in the front tires would have any effect on the front diff. Maybe he was confused with reversing the offset on front wheels for wider front axle stance which will put a lot of strain on the front end if a FEL is used. But I also don't see much advantage to having fluid in the small front wheels on the BX, I would guess that one would only gain 40 or 50lbs on the front end that way. I would go for the front suitcase weights which would be much more effective.

Called and talked to two of my Kubota reps yesterday and was told the same thing. Well, one wasn't sure, but the other explained that being that it is supposed to be equal with the rear, i.e. if you have a front loader, you should put a box on the back, or bush hog, to offset the weight. Anytime the weight is offset in the "axle" it causes strain on the gears, especially the bevel gears, which in turn creates premature wear, and eventually chipping or schaffing. It is fine with a 2-wheel drive. As far as water in the BX, I know what ya mean about watering them, your not gonna gain anything, but it was more of a question of service. I have done about 25 - 30 front ends on B6000's though the B9200's. All of them had water in the front tires. Since my rep told me about 8 years or go to "not" do it, I haven't.

BTW, I did install a few suitcase weights on the uhnit, and the customer was very pleased with the results.
