I figured that this is the best time to look for a snow blower attachment for next winter for the BX. I have been calling local dealers looking for the best price for the snow blower (BX2750)($1438.00) mid PTO kit (BX2752)($470.00) & sub frame mounting kit (BX2751)($456.00) and so far, the prices range from list to about 10% off list. Does anyone have an idea as to what a good or great price would be. I am looking for the parts only and will install the unit myself. The dealer that quoted list, said that he doesn't sell them in the box, but only installed because they are a problem for the owners to assemble. Any experience with this aspect of the snowblower? Thanks.....

What are you going to need a blower for when your selling that rig? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If it were me, I would contact Carvers to see what their prices are.

I think I did hear someone before say that they had problems with the directions and parts not matching on a Kubota snowblower (don't think it was for a BX though).

Boy those prices sure sound higher than I thought they cost when you throw in the mounts also.

Good luck and I think your right about this being the best time to start searching.

Junkman,

I installed mine last summer and it is a simple installation. I had to add the hydraulics since I do no have a FEL on mine. The Blower is nearly assembled and the mid pto is more like an erector set. By doing it myself I know everything is tight and aligned properly. I saved about $300.00 doing it myself. By the way the price was exactly what you were quoted.

I just want to make sure that the next owner has all the optional accessories that he might want. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I will keep the BX for now, because of the depreciation, and I am looking to add to the collection. Tractors are like potato chips..... you can never have just one.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

A year ago when I got my BX I paid $1411 blower, $434 PTO, and $422 Subframe they had it all set up when it was delivered so I don't know about the assembly of it. You need the PTO and Subframe for the sweeper you want, sweeper cost was $1423.

You will find that if you buy these things when you buy your tractor they are usualy included at a much lower cost than after the sale. The difference between list and cost on parts is not as much as you would think, especialy when freight is included. If you get any discount I would be happy. The assembly is not impossible, although I would not say its easy either. It takes our two full time Kubota setup guys 5 hours.

What would be the difference when I purchase it? When I purchased my tractor, there were no snowblowers to be had and none in sight. It wasn't a matter of cost, the dealer just didn't have any to sell. The freight would have been the same no matter. I find it interesting that it takes 10 man hours to set up a BX snowblower. As far as "being happy" if I get any discount, is the type of attitude that make me want to purchase from a dealer that appreciates my business, not one that thinks he has me over a barrel!!!!! Those type of comments in business are uncalled for. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Gosh, Junkman, Neil provided what I'd consider to be perfectly logical advice and you say ( Those type of comments in business are uncalled for. ) There are some products on which the profit margin is so slim that it wouldn't be worth a dealer's time to sell them if they discounted them very much, so what he said sure makes sense to me. And no dealer has you over a barrel; you can buy or not buy, as you wish. The dealer will only go so low on his prices, just as there's a limit on how low you'll go on something you're selling.

Bird..... I just find that it is offensive when any business person say "you should be happy" with what I am giving you for a price. In business, it rubs me and a whole lot of others the wrong way when a dealer makes comments like that. It doesn't add anything to instill confidence in the dealer and it does show that the dealer (or sales person) has a poor attitude about the customer, or even respects the customer. In my original question, the dealers were quoting from list to a 10% discount. Sure, there is only so low that they can go, and I have never denied a dealer a profit. I am looking for information as to what others have paid, and not to be told, "be happy that you get any discount". I don't want to offend a dealer by pushing for a price that is unrealistic. It has been said many times on these forums, that a tractor or accessory sale was lost because of dealer attitude toward the customer, not the price. In short, there is a nice way to say something and an abrasive way, in this past example, it is extremely abrasive to me. You might not see it this way, but having been in sales, I know that this isn't the way to respond to a customer. When you do, you will invariably alienate them and they will go elsewhere.

Junkman, I agree with you that ( it is offensive when any business person say "you should be happy" with what I am giving you for a price. ) However, in this case, I didn't read Neil's message as trying to sell you anything himself. He said( If you get any discount I would be happy. ) Just providing information is the way I read it.
