Hello to all:

I am about to perform the 50 Hour service on my BX1500. Any caveats or issues that the "book" never talks about?? Things to look for or other unwritten discoveries from those of you far more experienced than I?? Thank you for your time.

3 weeks ago a kubota mechanic helped me and a friend do the 50 hour sevice on our tractors. i have a b7510 and he has a bx1500.
the bx1500 required putting the fel in the full upright position, removing the engine cover, removing the mid mower and a really long flexable funnel to refill the hydro fluid. the fuel filter in the middle of the tractor was somewhat of a pain (it has 2). if you have a fel and live in a warm area the kubota rep (not mechanic) said to run gear oil in the front axle.
the bx1500 took double the amount of time (2 hours) mine did to service and we completed both in 3 hours. as mentioned we had some experienced help.

I have no idea if they have gotten the search function working yet, but there is PLENTY of advice on 50 hour services here.

Before mine I obsessively read the threads here. I planned to spend the whole day and was done in two hours.

I agree you should remove implements and the engine cover. This is a time to really get to know your machine, clean the innards, start figuring out what that maze of links and hoses does on the bottom side.

Congrats!

I am doing one part of the service at a time. Did the oil and filter today. I will do air filters next day. Then next day, fuel, etc. You get the idea. Small bites make it so much easier and fun. Between each service I go out and play (okay, work :D ).

The bx 1500 is rather easy to service, I do not have to remove the engine cover, I can reach the oil filter with out doing this. Change the fuel filter and trans/hydraulic fluid at the same time(you need the MMM out of the way for both)The biggest pain is refilling the trans/hyd. fluid. The bracket for the top link of the 3 point hitch is in the way of the filler opening,I just remove the bracket(4 bolts) to gain easier access. Also, my manual states 2 1/2 gallons of UDT or Super UDT for the trans/hyd. fluid. I found with filter change it took 3 gallons to get it to the proper level.

Whoops! Correction, you do need to remove the engine cover to change the 2nd fuel filter. I forgot about having to do this, I was thinking of engine oil/filter change only when I said you didn't have to remove the engine cover.
That said, its still easy to service, I have had some vehicles that were absolute pains just to change oil.

Hi,

I just completed my BX1500 50 hour service. Only three complaints 1) Why is it that the wiring harness is covering the engine oil filter? You also need to have an end mount filter wrench to change it corrrectly as I could not get a std wrench even close to fitting. 2) The 2.7 gals of transmission fluid is way off. I added three gal and it appears to only be just touching the bottom of the dip stick once I ran the tractor for a bit. Looks like another trip across town for more trans fluid. 3) The Transmission fill hole is the worst possible place. You will need a very long funnel hopefully much larger in size than mine as it took an hour to get all the oil through it.

I still love my BX even though it took twice the time I figured it would to get it serviced.
